In an upcoming interview, former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh is seen apologising to MS Dhoni and Kapil Dev on behalf of his father, Yograj Singh. The teaser of the chat has already exploded on social media.

For years, Yograj, also a former cricketer, has been openly critical of MS Dhoni, repeatedly blaming him for Yuvraj’s exit from the Indian team.

His comments have often been extreme and controversial, including accusations that Dhoni deliberately sidelined Yuvraj.

Yuvraj Singh breaks the silence on his father Yograj’s behaviour

More recently, Yograj Singh also made shocking claims about Kapil Dev, alleging that he once confronted him with a gun after being dropped from the Indian team decades ago.

These statements created a fresh wave of backlash because they dragged past grievances into the public domain in a dramatic way.

Unlike his father, Yuvraj Singh had mostly stayed silent over the years. But now, he has finally addressed the issue and taken a clear stand.

In an interview teaser released by Sports Tak, Yuvraj apologised directly to MS Dhoni and Kapil Dev and said that his father’s comments were not acceptable.

The ex-all-rounder also revealed that he has personally told his father to stop making such statements.

While the full interview is yet to be released, Yuvraj’s point of view on his father, Yograj Singh, has already become viral on social media.

Was MS Dhoni really at fault?

A major part of the controversy has always been the belief that former legendary captain MS Dhoni forced Yuvraj Singh out of the Indian team. However, this narrative has largely been debunked.

Former selector Sandeep Patil clarified that selectors, not Dhoni, made the decision. Yuvraj himself admitted that Dhoni was honest with him about his future role around 2017.

That clarity eventually helped Yuvraj accept his career trajectory and retire in 2019. So, the long-standing blame on Dhoni doesn’t hold much factual ground.

The uncomfortable bond of Yuvraj Singh with his father, Yograj

Interestingly, Yuvraj Singh has rarely been on the best of terms with his father and mentor, Yograj Singh. The latter forced Yuvraj to quit skating to focus only on cricket.

His upbringing and training style were harsh and overly strict. While this discipline helped build Yuvraj into a world-class cricketer, it also created emotional distance between father and son.

The tension at home became so intense that Yuvraj’s parents eventually separated. At just 15, Yuvraj Singh even asked them to divorce due to constant conflict. By 17, he chose to live with his mother instead of his father.

In past interviews, Yuvraj also openly spoke about this difficult bond. He said Yograj Singh was never really a father figure and described his upbringing as strict and emotionally distant.
