The International Cricket Council has revealed a record-breaking prize pool for the upcoming Women’s T20 World Cup 2026. The tournament, meanwhile, is set to be hosted by England from June to July.
The total prize pool announcement from ICC reads US$8.76 million, which marks a 10% increase from the US$ 7.95 million prize fund in the 2024 edition. The significant increase also reflects the ICC T20 World Cup 2026’s expansion to 12 teams, up from 10, along with a rise in group-stage matches from 20 to 30.
Prize Money Breakdown Remains Top-Heavy
Although the overall prize pool has increased, the rewards for the top teams haven’t received a necessary upgrade.
The champions will once again receive $2.34 million, while the runners-up will earn $1.17 million. Teams losing in the semi-finals will take home $675,000 each.

Additionally, every group-stage victory will continue to fetch $31,154, maintaining consistency with the previous edition. However, to the surprise of many, the biggest financial gains are still reserved for teams reaching the knockout stages in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026
Mid-Table Teams Face Reduced Earnings
Despite the rise in total prize money, not all teams stand to benefit equally. The removal of positional prizes for teams finishing outside the knockout stages means some mid-ranked sides could earn less than they did in 2024.
Although the minimum guaranteed participation fee has increased significantly from $112,500 to $247,500, teams finishing between fifth and eighth may end up with lower overall earnings compared to the last edition, where they received a combined payout of $382,500.
Now, their earnings will depend heavily on match wins, with one additional group game offering limited compensation.
Knockout Teams to Gain the Most in T20 World Cup 2026
The revised structure heavily rewards teams progressing deeper into the tournament. A losing semi-finalist is now guaranteed at least $922,500, up from $787,500 in 2024.

ICC Promotes Equality And Growth With Prize Money Boost
The escalation in prize money has seen continuous growth in recent years, with the 2024 edition won by New Zealand Women seeing a massive jump. Notably, the team won $7.95 million in the 2023 edition, an increase of 224%.
For comparison, India's Men's Cricket Team received $2.45 million for winning the Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, aligning closely with the new women’s rewards structure.
Nevertheless, the Women’s edition in 2026 will kick off on June 12, with hosts England Women taking on Sri Lanka Women at Edgbaston.
The tournament will end with the grand final at the iconic Lord's Cricket Ground on July 5, promising a fitting stage for the biggest prize in women’s T20 cricket.
