Vaibhav Sooryavanshi made his much-awaited international debut earlier this week as he turned up for Team India in Manchester against England. However, the youngster failed to make the most of the grand occasion as he was dismissed by Will Jacks for just 14 off 10 balls.

In any case, Sooryavanshi’s debut game sparked much celebration among Indian cricket fans. Several fans took to X and congratulated the 15-year-old on receiving his maiden international cap.

Certain fans also demonstrated a sense of toxicity towards other Indian cricketers, with one particular fan trolling former captain Virat Kohli on X. Since the social media post was also linked to Jatin Sapru, the prominent Indian commentator and sports presenter took note and debunked the unnecessary hate towards Kohli.

Jatin Sapru calls out Vaibhav Sooryavanshi fan, debunks Virat Kohli hate

Young Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and senior pro Virat Kohli seem to get along really well, as evidenced by their friendly confrontation after the IPL 2026 final in Ahmedabad a few weeks ago. However, fans of certain Indian cricketers seem to hold their agenda against others, turning celebratory moments into opportunities for unnecessary comparisons and online trolling.

On Saturday, July 4, one such social media post emerged on X, as shared by a fan on the occasion of Sooryavanshi’s international debut. The post featured an excerpt from match commentary involving sports presenter Jatin Sapru and former Indian batter Ambati Rayudu.

As per the post, Sapru indirectly trolled Kohli by claiming that Sooryavanshi must look up to the senior Indian player only for his ‘fitness’ and not for his ’40-ball fifty’ scoring ability.

As it turned out, Jatin Sapru himself took note of the ‘fake commentary excerpt’ post and called out the Indian cricket fan for his online behaviour.

Taking to X, the commentator wrote “Thodi bohot sharam aati hai? Is lying your profession or just a passion project?”

Sapru’s sharp response quickly drew attention on social media, with many users backing the commentator for shutting down the misleading claim and unnecessary trolling.

When Virat Kohli caught up with Vaibhav Sooryavanshi

Just after the IPL 2026 final at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium, RCB icon Virat Kohli caught up with Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. The two cricketers had a friendly interaction with each other, with Kohli offering a word of advice to the teenage prodigy.

It is worth noting that both cricketers also enjoyed a productive evening that day, with Kohli bagging the ‘Player of the Match’ award in RCB’s successful title defense, and Sooryavanshi winning the coveted ‘Orange Cap’ of the season.

Sooryavanshi makes his debut, likely to resume role in Nottingham

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi recently made his Team India debut, doing so against England at Old Trafford in Manchester. Despite scoring just 14 runs off 10 balls after replacing champion opener Sanju Samson, the 15-year-old might retain his place in the XI in the upcoming third T20I of the series.

The match will be hosted by Trent Bridge in Nottingham on Tuesday, July 7.
