Ishan Kishan charted a record half-century as India pipped Zimbabwe to take a 2-0 lead in the three-match series. Usman Tariq was questioned for his bowling action by Tim David. In other news, Bangladesh loses trump card Nahid Rana for the upcoming tour of Australia.

Capping an eventful day in the world of cricket, here we take a look at five of the biggest cricketing news that emerged out of Saturday, July 25.

Ishan Kishan charts record fifty as India seals series

Ishan Kishan bludgeoned 81 runs off just 44 balls against Zimbabwe in India’s second T20I of the three-match series. The cricketer launched nine boundaries and two sixes, as India mounted 219-5 in 20 overs after being put into bat first.

The innings marked the highest individual score ever recorded by any Indian wicketkeeper-batter in a T20I match in Zimbabwe, allowing the ‘Men in Blue’ to clinch a 90-run win to claim the three-match series.

Tim David questions Usman Tariq’s bowling action in The Hundred 2026

Trent Rockets batter Tim David has questioned the controversial bowling action of Pakistan spinner Usman Tariq. The incident occurred after David was dismissed by Tariq during Trent Rockets’ away match of The Hundred 2026 season against Birmingham Phoenix in Birmingham on July 25.

David has now become the second Australian cricketer this year to question the Pakistani star after all-rounder Cameron Green.

Nahid Rana ruled out of Australia Test series

Nahid Rana has been ruled out of Bangladesh’s upcoming two-match Test series in Australia. The tearaway paceman has suffered a side strain injury, achieving the same during Bangladesh’s recently-concluded T20I series in Zimbabwe earlier this month.

BCB chief physician Debashish Chowdhury confirmed about Rana’s absence from the series, and as things stand, it does not look like the Bangladesh team has a like-for-like replacement ready for the in-form fast bowler.

BCCI confirms India squad announcement date for SL series

BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia has confirmed that the Indian squad for the upcoming Test series in Sri Lanka will be announced on Tuesday, July 28 this coming week. While speaking with the TOI, Saikia said “Yes, the Indian team for the Sri Lanka Test tour will be picked in the next two days. By Tuesday, we will announce the team.”

The Indian cricket team is scheduled to play a two-match Test series in Sri Lanka in August.

Babar Azam speaks before WI Test series

Pakistan Test skipper Babar Azam gave an honest verdict before the launch of the Test series in West Indies. Getting re-appointed as Test captain, the senior batter said “Playing in the West Indies is always challenging because the conditions are different and the home side is highly competitive in familiar surroundings.”

As it happened, West Indies captain Roston Chase won the toss and opted to bat first a few hours later in Tarouba.
