Brian Bennett had some luck on his side in the ongoing India vs Zimbabwe 2nd T20I at the Harare Sports Club on Saturday, July 25. He received two major lifelines, one by Ishan Kishan and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and the other by Tilak Varma.
The first mistake came due to a DRS blunder involving wicketkeeper Kishan and young batter Sooryavanshi. The second opportunity arrived when Tilak Varma dropped a difficult catch at short extra cover.
Bennett, however, could not make the most of these chances and was eventually dismissed by debutant Yash Thakur for 32 runs off 19 balls.

Brian Bennett Gets Two Lifelines In IND vs ZIM 2nd T20I
The first lucky escape for Brian Bennett came in the very first over of Zimbabwe's innings. Mayank Yadav bowled a short-of-length delivery outside off stump, and Bennett tried to cut the ball away. The ball took a clear outside edge and went past the Ishan Kishan.
Later, it was shown that there was a definite edge; however, India did not appeal strongly and failed to take the review. Ishan Kishan and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi were left surprised when the replay appeared on the big screen.
Bennett got another chance in the 2nd over when Yash Thakur bowled a short delivery. The Zimbabwe batter attacked the ball and played a powerful shot towards short extra cover. Tilak Varma reacted quickly but could not hold on to the catch.

However, Brian Bennett failed to convert his luck into a big innings. In the fourth over, he attempted one shot too many against Yash Thakur. Trying to play a reverse scoop, he only managed a top edge, and Ishan Kishan completed a simple catch behind the stumps.
Yash Thakur picked up his maiden wicket for India, ending Bennett's eventful innings at just 32 runs.

However, it is important to mention that with this innings, Brian Bennett completed 2,000 runs in T20Is. He became the third Zimbabwe batter to reach the milestone after Sikandar Raza and Ryan Burl.
Bennett completed this milestone in just his 63rd innings (fastest), with the other two completing in 86 and 111 innings, respectively.
Ishan Kishan And Tilak Varma Guide India To Massive Score
Earlier in the match, Zimbabwe captain won the toss and decided to bowl first. India posted a huge total of 219/5 after impressive knocks from Ishan Kishan and Tilak Varma.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi gave India a quick start before getting out for 20 runs off just nine balls. Kishan then scored a brilliant 81 off 44 balls, while Tilak finished unbeaten on 60 off 29 balls to take India beyond the 200-run mark.
