The entire schedule of the upcoming IPL 2026 season will likely be unveiled by the BCCI after the conclusion of the two semi-final matches of the ongoing 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, i.e., sometime later this week. BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia revealed that the board is still waiting to receive some clarity from the Indian government regarding the upcoming elections in several states like Assam, Bengal and Tamil Nadu.

With security remaining BCCI’s biggest concerns in IPL matches, the security forces will likely be stretched thin in case fixtures coincide with the elections.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has unveiled the entire list of match officials for the upcoming two semi-final matches of the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. The first semi-final of the tournament between South Africa and New Zealand in Kolkata will be officiated by on-field umpires Richard Illingworth and Alex Wharf, third umpire Nitin Menon, fourth umpire Rod Tucker and match referee Javagal Srinath.

India to play five ODIs in New Zealand instead of three

The Indian cricket team will likely play a series of five ODIs instead of three matches later this year in New Zealand. As requested by the NZC, a slight tweak in the schedule is imminent owing to the larger commercial interest around the format.

The higher interest itself can be attributed to the presence of legendary Indian batters Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, who continue to remain central figures and crowd pullers despite retiring from T20Is and Test cricket.
