India fielded four fast bowlers on Tuesday (November 3) in their playing XI against New Zealand for the first ODI of the five-match series at Eden Park, Auckland.

In the process, they made four changes from their previous playing XI, which was against the West Indies at home last month.

During the toss, Shubman Gill confirmed all the changes for the IND vs NZ 1st ODI. Of them, the biggest surprise was having Anshul Kamboj, Auqib Nabi, Gurnoor Brar, and Arshdeep Singh all in India’s playing XI.

What Are The Changes In India Playing XI From Last Time?

Ruturaj Gaikwad Out, Shreyas Iyer In

As Shreyas Iyer, India’s ODI vice-captain, is back in action, India had no other option but to sideline Ruturaj Gaikwad, who is almost a like-for-like alternative in their middle-order.

Nitish Kumar Reddy Out, Axar Patel In

Nitish Kumar Reddy, who was picked for only one ODI against New Zealand, had to sit out. The reason was probably that they had four out-and-out fast bowlers and had to make space for a spin-bowling all-rounder, Axar Patel.

Kuldeep Yadav Out, Auqib Nabi In

In a surprising turn of events, Kuldeep Yadav did not make India’s playing XI. The wicket-taking wrist spinner, who did not play a single T20I in the recently concluded series in New Zealand, was replaced by newly-added Auqib Nabi.

Mohammed Siraj Out, Arshdeep Singh In

Mohammed Siraj, who was playing for India A in New Zealand for red-ball preparations, failed to make the cut. Arshdeep Singh got his place in India’s playing XI.

What Did Shubman Gill Say After IND vs NZ 1st ODI Toss?

Here is what Shubman Gill had to say after the India vs New Zealand 1st ODI toss at Eden Park, Auckland.

Shubman Gill: "The conditions that we are going to get here would be a lot more similar to the ones in South Africa as compared to other parts of the world. So in terms of that, it'll be a really good experience for us; hopefully we get some good success here."

"[On India's bowling combination] We are going with the four fast bowlers and two all-rounders: Naman and Axar, with Anshul, Auqib, Gurnoor and Arshdeep."
