Harsh Dubey took 9/53 on Monday (November 2) during Vidarbha vs Madhya Pradesh Ranji Trophy 2026 match at Vidarbha Cricket Association Ground, Nagpur. Had Nachiket Bhute not taken the first wicket, of Yash Dubey’s, to begin the innings, he could have had all ten wickets.
Unfortunately, Harsh could not get the chance to make it even more sensational spell. He bowled 23.1 overs for Vidarbha after taking the new ball in hand, and thanks to him, Rajat Patidar-led Madhya Pradesh were bundled out for 209 runs.
Harsh Dubey Becomes 1st Player From Vidarbha To Take 9-Fer
Harsh, who made his India debut in June this year, became the first player in the history of Vidarbha to have nine wickets in a Ranji Trophy innings. The best bowling record for Vidarbha in Ranji Trophy history was previously held by Arun Muralidhar Ogiral, who took 8/39 59 years ago.
Incidentally, Arun’s historic spell came against Madhya Pradesh as well, and it happened in Nagpur in 1967.
Harsh, meanwhile, is yet to make his Test debut for India. He has played two ODIs so far, and took 4 wickets there.
When Harsh Dubey Made Another Ranji Trophy's All-Time Record
Harsh, during Ranji Trophy 2024/25, claimed 69 wickets for Vidarbha, averaging only 16.99. No player in the history of Ranji Trophy had more wickets than him in a single season.
Most Wickets In A Ranji Trophy Season
- 69 - Harsh Dubey (Vidarbha) in 2024/25*
- 68 - Ashutosh Aman (Bihar) in 2018/19
- 67 - Jaydev Unadkat (Saurashtra) in 2019/20
Even though Harsh is yet to play a multi-day match for India, he was there with the squad when Afghanistan came to India during the summer for both ODIs and Tests.
The way he has been going with the red ball in hand, Harsh Dubey might not need to wait for longer to be India’s regular in Test setup. He has already been in the limelight, representing Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He came there in the middle of IPL 2025 in place for R. Smaran at INR 30 lakh.
