In what seems to be a shocking development in the India vs Pakistan T20 World Cup 2026 game’s heated buildup, the Indian team will be firm on their ‘no handshake policy’ with Pakistan cricket team. There have already been a lot of debates and discussions over India’s stance to not shake hands with Pakistan players.

Meanwhile, a report in the Indian Express understands that, “the team will maintain a status quo on the hand shaking tradition, with captain Suryakumar Yadav unlikely to extend his hand for the formal handshake with Pakistan counterpart Salman Agha at the toss.”

India vs Pakistan no handshake for the 1st time at ICC stage

Now, it also becomes very crucial to see what ICC comes up with to end this ‘handshake’ deadlock between India and Pakistan. Earlier in the Asia Cup last year, India played three games against Pakistan, including the final and the former stood firm on their stance of ‘no handshake’ with the Men in Green.

Meanwhile, both the captains, India's Suryakumar Yadav and Pakistan's Salman Ali Agha were questioned by the reporters about the possibilities of 'handshake' between India and Pakistan on the field in Colombo.

On being asked about 'handshake' in India vs Pakistan game, the Men in Blue skipper Suryakumar Yadav didn't come up with any firm response and left the reporters and fans in suspense with his reply.

"Wait for 24 hours. Eat well, sleep well, we will see tomorrow," said SKY during the pre-match press conference, avoiding to give any controversial statement ahead of the high-voltage India vs Pakistan game in the T20 World Cup 2026.

"It's upto them whatever they want" - Salman Ali Agha on India's 'no-handshake' stance

Speaking of the Pakistan skipper Salman Ali Agha, he was also asked by a reporter about the handshake with India. He replied without getting much into it and also dropped a 'spirit of the game' message for the cricket fans.

"The game should be played in the same spirit. And what I expect does not matter. The rest is up to them and whatever they want to do," said Salman Ali Agha during the pre-match press conference.

"You will find out about that tomorrow," he added later.

India aim to continue one-sided dominance over Pakistan in T20 World Cup

While taking the field against Pakistan in the 27th game of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2026, India will aim to continue their one-sided dominance against the Men in Green in the T20 WC history. In eight India vs Pakistan games across nine T20 World Cup editions so far, India have won seven games, while Pakistan winning only one in the 2021 edition.

So, Suryakumar Yadav's men will target to make the scoreline to 8-1 in nine games from 7-1 in eight games in the T20 World Cup.

On the other hand, Pakistan will also be eyeing to revive the rivalry against India by changing the scoreline from 1-7 in eight games to 2-7 in nine games.
