On Wednesday morning in Sylhet, Bangladesh created history by defeating Pakistan in the two-match Test series for the first time on home soil. This 2-0 series win over the Asian giants comes after their 2-0 win over the same opposition away in Pakistan in 2024, making it four wins in a row against them.
Having taken a lead in the series in Mirpur, Bangladesh scored 278 while batting first in Sylhet, courtesy of Litton Das' valiant 126(159), with the next best score being captain Najmul Hossain Shanto's 29(74). Then they bundled Pakistan for 232, despite a fifty for Babar Azam.
Then Mushfiqur Rahim scored 137, alongside Litton's 69, to take the target beyond Pakistan's reach. However, while going after 437 runs, Pakistan fought back with multiple fifties in the middle-order and scored 358 in the fourth innings, but Bangladesh's spin wizard Taijul Islam ran through their batting and staged an epic win by 78 runs.
As Bangladesh climb the WTC 2025-27 table, captain Najmul Hossain Shanto went past all the Bangladesh legends and became their most successful Test captain in terms of wins.
