With the buzz of the IPL 2026 at its peak, the BCCI announced a young squad, led by Tilak Varma, for a Tri-Series against Sri Lanka A and Afghanistan A.
With MI's Tilak Varma at helm, a gung-ho squad has been named, which comprises the likes of Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh.
With the ODI Cricket Cup 2027 scheduled for next year, the Tri-Series, which will be played in the 50-over format, can be looked at as a dress rehearsal to get into the senior side as a wild card entrant for the marquee event.
Nevertheless, the Tri-Series- featuring India A, Sri Lanka A and Afghanistan A- will be taken place soon after the conclusion of the IPL 2026 in the Island nation.

Tri-Series In Sri Lanka 2026 Schedule
The Tri-Series, featuring India A, Sri Lanka A, and Afghanistan A, will be a seven-match Tri-Series in Sri Lanka 2026, starting on June 9.
It will be a double round-robin tournament, where each team plays the other two teams twice before the two top teams qualify for the final, scheduled for June 21.

The BCCI, on Thursday, revealed a strong 15-member squad with Tilak Varma named as captain and Riyan Parag picked as his deputy. Interestingly, the India A captain and his vice captain are only international cricketers picked for the Tri-Series in Sri Lanka 2026.
Moreover, IPL 2026 performers such as Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Priyansh Arya, Anshul Kamboj, Harsh Dubey and Suryansh Shedge have also been named in the India A squad for the Tri-Series in Sri Lanka 2026.
Whereas players who have been making waves in domestic circuits, such as Yash Thakur, Yudhvir Singh, Nishant Sindhu, Vipraj Nigam and Arshad Khan are also picked.
