The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has unveiled complete Team India squad for the upcoming two-match Test series. As one can expect, charismatic top-order batter Shubman Gill will continue to lead the Indian national side, with KL Rahul serving as his deputy.
The 16-player group also features the return of legendary Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah, who recently missed the Test series against Afghanistan at home and against Sri Lanka in the island nation.
Jasprit Bumrah returns, Rishabh Pant subject to fitness clearance
The BCCI has named a strong 16-player India group for the upcoming two-match Test series against New Zealand in New Zealand between November 19 and December 1.
Shubman Gill will continue to lead the side, while the likes of Yashasvi Jaiswal and vice-captain KL Rahul will be expected to open the innings. Devdutt Padikkal also retained his place in the team following his prolific series in Sri Lanka, while Sai Sudharsan returns to the team after missing the tour owing to his injury concern.
Rishabh Pant has been named in the squad; however, his availability is still subject to fitness clearance. If Pant fails to attain full recovery, the Indian team management will include backup keeper Dhruv Jurel in the playing XI.
All-rounders Ravindra Jadeja, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Washington Sundar all found themselves in the 16-member group. Senior paceman Jasprit Bumrah returns to the team and the legendary fast bowler will be expected to lead the Indian pace attack, comprising of Prasidh Krishna, Akash Deep and Mohammed Siraj. Here is a look at the complete India Test squad for the upcoming series in New Zealand.

Significance of India tour of New Zealand 2026
India’s upcoming two-match Test series in New Zealand marks a must-win one for Shubman Gill and co., in context of the ongoing 2025-27 ICC WTC cycle.
After failing to complete a 2-0 whitewash over Sri Lanka, it is imperative for the struggling Indian team to register a Test series win on New Zealand soil next month. Notably, India last won a Test series in New Zealand way back in April 2009, i.e., more than 17 years ago.
The two impending Tests will be hosted by the Basin Reserve in Wellington between November 19 and November 23, and by the Hagley Oval in Christchurch between November 27 and December 1.
