The first round of the Ranji Trophy 2026-27 season saw several Indian international players return to domestic cricket, with mixed results across teams.

While Ravindra Jadeja and Mohammed Shami made notable contributions, KL Rahul, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sarfaraz Khan and Sai Sudharsan struggled with the bat.

The opening round provided players with an opportunity to gain valuable red-ball match practice and build momentum for upcoming international assignments. Here is how some of India's prominent players performed in the first round.

Ravindra Jadeja

Ravindra Jadeja delivered an impressive all-round performance for Saurashtra against Chhattisgarh. The left-handed batter scored 102 off 209 balls, registering his 16th first-class century and helping his team strengthen its position.

Jadeja also contributed with the ball, claiming three wickets for 40 runs in 17 overs in the first innings.

Mohammed Shami

Mohammed Shami impressed with the ball for Bengal in their match against Delhi. The experienced fast bowler picked up four wickets for 30 runs in the first innings, troubling the opposition batters with his pace and movement.

Shami continued to contribute in the second innings, taking one wicket for 29 runs in 18 overs, completing his five-wicket match haul.

KL Rahul

KL Rahul had a disappointing outing for Karnataka against Andhra in the first round of Ranji Trophy 2026-27. The right-handed batter managed scores of four and one in the two innings, failing to make a substantial contribution with the bat.

Yashasvi Jaiswal

Yashasvi Jaiswal endured a difficult start to his Ranji Trophy 2026-27 campaign for Mumbai against Chandigarh. The left-handed opener was dismissed for a duck after facing 13 balls.

Mumbai, however, dominated the contest and secured an innings-and-155-run victory. Jaiswal will look to bounce back in the next round and spend more time at the crease.

Sarfaraz Khan

Sarfaraz Khan also failed to make an impact for Mumbai against Chandigarh. The middle-order batter scored just one run off six deliveries before being dismissed.

Mohammed Siraj

Mohammed Siraj produced a useful contribution for Hyderabad against Tripura. After going wicketless in the first innings, the fast bowler returned to claim two wickets for 19 runs in the second innings. Hyderabad eventually secured an innings-and-40-run victory.

Sai Sudharsan

Sai Sudharsan had a brief outing for Tamil Nadu against Rajasthan in first round of Ranji Trophy 2026-27. The left-handed batter managed just three runs off 10 balls, missing the opportunity to make a significant contribution.

Washington Sundar

India all-rounder Washington Sundar had a more productive outing for Tamil Nadu. The all-rounder picked up two wickets in the first innings and later remained unbeaten on 26 while batting at No. 7.

His contribution with both bat and ball offered Tamil Nadu some value, although he will look to build on the performance in the coming rounds.
