The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) have announced the complete England Lions squad for the upcoming eight-match tour of the Caribbean. England Test cricketer Dan Lawrence and uncapped star Thomas Rew have been named as captains for the tour.

It is worth noting that the ECB also recently appointed former cricketer and ex-Afghanistan coach Jonathan Trott as the new head coach of the England Lions team.

The ECB has revealed a 14-member England Lions squad for the upcoming T20 tour of the Caribbean. The board also named a 17-player group for England Lions’ upcoming 50-overs series against the hosts.

As many as 11 players find themselves appearing in both squads, with 20 different cricketers making up the overall group for the eight-match Caribbean tour.

England Test cricketer and Surrey all-rounder Dan Lawrence has been appointed as captain of the England Lions’ 50-overs side. Meanwhile, Somerset’s explosive wicketkeeper-batter and uncapped England player Thomas Rew will be leading the 20-overs England Lions team.

Notably, the 20-overs England Lions squad also includes England Test discard and Thomas’ elder brother, James Rew. Young bowling all-rounder Rehan Ahmed is another player with international experience who made it to the T20 group. Significance of England Lions tour of West Indies

The England Lions team is scheduled to tour the Caribbean and take on West Indies A in a series of three T20 matches and five unofficial ODI games between November 1 and November 16.

With ECB also appointing Jonathan Trott as England Lions’ new head coach, the primary objective of the tour is to help the board identify and prepare “next-in-line players” for white-ball cricket, as confirmed by ECB Men’s Performance Director, Ed Barney.
