Team India lost the fifth T20I to England to go 0-4 down in the five-match series. Jason Holder has announced his retirement from ODI cricket. In other news, India Women fast bowler Kranti Gaud skittled England Women on Day 2 at Lord’s.

Brook, Buttler pile on India’s misery to script series win, number 1 ranking

England walloped India by 56 runs in the fifth T20I to seal the five-match series 4-0. Harry Brook plundered 95* off just 45 balls, and senior man Jos Buttler bludgeoned a thunderous 64-ball 131 as England mounted 257-3 in 20 overs.

In response, India managed just 201-8 in 20 overs to register their sixth straight defeat and second series whitewash in succession. The Indian team also lost its number one T20I ranking to England after more than four years.

Ganguly, Pietersen, Anjum Chopra inducted in ICC Hall of Fame

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has inducted former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly, England great Kevin Pietersen and India Women’s trailblazer Anjum Chopra into its elusive ‘Hall of Fame’.

Each of the aforementioned cricketing personalities expressed their gratitude towards the ICC for getting bestowed with this prestigious honour. 

Kranti Gaud skittles England Women on Day 2

India Women fast bowler Kranti Gaud skittled hosts England with a sensational five-wicket haul at an expense of just 37 runs from 17 overs. Marking her career-best Test spell, Gaud’s efforts also helped India gain a sizeable 115-run lead at the halfway stage of the match on Day 2 at Lord’s.

Moreover, she has now become the first-ever women’s cricketer to pick up a Test five-fer at the iconic venue, and also the youngest Indian fast bowler to take five wickets in a single Test innings.

Jason Holder retires from ODIs

West Indies head coach Daren Sammy stated that legendary all-rounder Jason Holder has announced his retirement from ODI cricket. Holder played 138 ODI matches for the West Indies team, which included matches in the 2015 and 2019 World Cups. 

The bowling all-rounder picked up 159 wickets in the format, and scored 2,237 runs with the bat at an exceptional strike rate of above 90.

Kane Williamson joins Manchester Super Giants for Hundred 2026

Former New Zealand captain Kane Williamson has joined the Manchester Super Giants franchise as its men’s batting coach for the upcoming 2026 season of The Hundred. Williamson recently announced his retirement from all forms of the game around the halfway stage of New Zealand’s Test series win in England last month. 

Notably, the former cricketer was also associated with the LSG franchise as the Strategic Advisor and mentor earlier this year.
