England opener Jason Roy, who is currently representing Karachi Kings in Pakistan Super League (PSL) 11, has revealed his choices for the 3 greatest Pakistani players. This came when Jason Roy appeared on a podcast.

Jason Roy has joined the Karachi Kings franchise as a replacement for Muhammad Waseem, who was called up to join the UAE team for national duty. With an undefeated 145 off 63 balls against Peshawar Zalmi in 2023, he owns the record for the highest individual score in PSL history.

Karachi Kings' performance in PSL 2026

Karachi Kings, who are captained by David Warner, are placed in the sixth spot in the Pakistan Super League (PSL 2026) points table. They have played 10 matches thus far and won 5 games and lost 5 games, having 10 points to their name.

David Warner has led from the front, scoring the most runs for the Karachi Kings, with 256 runs in 7 games with a strike rate of 147.97 with three fifties and a best score of 89*. On the other hand, Hasan Ali has been the top bowler for the Karachi franchise. Ali has taken 15 wickets in 9 games for Kings, with an economy of 9.27 and best bowling figures of 4/27.

Jason Roy snubs Imran Khan and Wasim Akram, naming his three greatest Pakistani players

Jason Roy, a former England opener, has listed his top three Pakistani cricket players. In a recent podcast appearance, Roy listed Younis Khan, Babar Azam, and Shoaib Akhtar as his all-time favorite Pakistani players.

Roy’s first pick was Pakistan’s 2009 T20 World Cup-winning captain. And the only Pakistani batter to score 10,000 Test runs, Younis Khan.

“Who was it that was at Surrey with me? Batter. I can’t remember. This is bad because he’s the biggest legend. Yunus Khan. Right-handed batsman, just a legend of the game. I spent a bit of time with him at Surrey, and his knowledge of the game was incredible, and he's just a very nice guy,” Roy said.

The second choice for Jason was current Pakistani batting heart-throb Babar Azam. He explained his reasons for picking Babar Azam.

“I’ve obviously gone through our careers with a similar sort of timing and whatnot. He’s an incredible player and a very, very nice guy. Every time I see him, he’s very welcoming and says hello nicely,” he said.

Shoaib Akhtar becomes Jason Roy’s third pick for greatest Pakistani cricketers

For his final pick for the greatest Pakistani cricketers, Jason chose a bowler, and instead of the greats like Wasim Akram or Waqar Younis, Roy decided to pick the world's fastest bowler, Shoaib Akhtar. Akhtar, who made his Pakistan debut in 1996, took 444 wickets in 224 international matches for Pakistan.

“I think obviously just incredible firepower and raw pace and aggression. I think you can’t shy away from that. That’s someone you want in your team for sure,” Roy stated.

Jason Roy has been in decent form for Karachi Kings in the PSL 2026, scoring 169 runs in 5 games in PSL 11, with the best score of 85 and a strike rate of 157.94.
