Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) broke silence on Punjab Kings' iconic 265 run-chase, showing their readiness to tackle the batting-friendly conditions at Delhi's Arun Jaitley Stadium.
Led by Rajat Patidar, the Royal Challengers will take on Delhi Capitals in match 39 of the IPL 2026 at Arun Jaitley Stadium, which recently witnessed an iconic 265 run-chase by PBKS.
Punjab Kings have been phenomenal in the IPL 2026. Captained by Shreyas Iyer, the Kings have won six out of their first seven group-stage matches, claiming the first position in the IPL points table.
Recently, PBKS scripted history, as they chased a mammoth target of 265 runs against Delhi Capitals. The Punjab-based team thus registered the highest-ever successful chase in the history of the competition.
Punjab Kings smash records vs DC on placid Delhi pitch
PBKS received a major leadership boost when Shreyas Iyer was appointed as their captain ahead of the IPL 2025. The tactical move paid rich dividends for the franchise, as Iyer powered them to the final of the 2025 season.
As far as their IPL 2026 campaign is concerned, PBKS are riding high on confidence, having outclassed their opponents on all six occasions thus far.

Their ruthless batting approach helped them record the highest successful run chase, as they gunned down a monumental target of 265 runs against the Capitals.
After KL Rahul hammered a blistering 67-ball 152, Prabhsimran Singh and Shreyas Iyer's fireworks helped Punjab make a mockery of the gigantic total.
Bowlers from both teams managed just six wickets combined, with 529 runs being scored in just 38.5 overs at a run rate of 13.61.
The stellar success of batters raised questions on the quality of the pitch at Arun Jaitley Stadium, while also stirring a debate on the imbalance between bat and ball in modern-day T20 matches.
Andy Flower reacts to PBKS mayhem, says RCB are prepared for all conditions
RCB head coach Andy Flower remains unperturbed by the extreme batting-friendly conditions at Arun Jaitley Stadium.
Reacting to Punjab Kings' historic run chase, Flower said that it was interesting to watch as the Shreyas Iyer-led side cruised to the total in a day game, which are generally not considered as high-scoring fixtures in IPL.
However, the former Zimbabwe captain revealed that his side has already formulated a blue print to counter the Delhi Capitals with strategic game-play.
"Well 264 in a day game and getting chased was interesting to watch. We know it's a high scoring ground. We are ready with our plans, both to attack and to limit the damage coming our way," Andy Flower said in a video posted by RCB.
Who are RCB's prime assets for classic 'attack and defence' ploy vs Delhi Capitals?
The Royal Challengers have a star-studded batting unit. Virat Kohli, Devdutt Padikkal and Rajat Patidar have exhibited remarkable form, while Tim David is capable of destroying the Delhi Capitals' bowling attack.
The presence of Jitesh Sharma, Romario Shepherd and Krunal Pandya empowers RCB with a deep batting lineup, allowing the top-order batters to play fearlessly.
Furthermore, the likes of Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Josh Hazlewood are proven all-weather talismans with the ball in T20 cricket. Suyash Sharma and Krunal Pandya add exceptional defensive weapons, making the Royal Challengers a formidable team in the IPL.
Thus, RCB's attack and defence is second to none, and it could undoubtedly backfire on the Capitals if they prepare a flat batting-deck for the upcoming fixture.
