Marco Jansen, Shai Hope, Arafat Minhas nominated Player of the Month award
Marco Jansen, the Player of the Series during the Proteas' 2-1 victory over Australia, is a definite nominee.
So is the West Indies captain Shai Hope, who mustered the Indian bowling attack in the T20I assignment in India. The stylish right-hander registered 261 runs in four innings, including two match-winning centuries. He also smashed an unbeaten 162 in the New Chandigarh ODI, which also came in the month of October.
Lastly, Pakistan’s emerging all-rounder Arafat Minhas is also nominated for the Player of the Month award. The left-arm spinning all-rounder was the star of the Tri Series in Pakistan, bagging 149 runs and nine wickets.
It is worth noting that none of the three cricketers has ever won the Player of the Month award.
Deepti Sharma among three nominees for ICC award for October 2026
The ever-consistent Deepti Sharma, who last won the award in December 2023, is one of three nominees for the Women’s Player of the Month award for October 2026.
She recently helped Team India thrash Zimbabwe, scoring an emphatic century in Vadodara in the second ODI, capped it with five wickets in ODIs, and added a couple more in T20Is.
The Australian all-rounder Annabel Sutherland is also shortlisted for her 99 runs and six wickets against Bangladesh at home. She also played two more ODIs vs New Zealand in the month. Notably, she last won the award in December 2024, bagging the award twice that year.
Bangladesh’s Sobhana Mostary is also picked as the last nominee, racking up the highest individual ODI score for her national team during a fixture at the Allan Border Medal against Australia. Mostary had already won the award earlier this year in January.
