In the video, Pathan clarified that he is only the brand ambassador and the decision to rope in a player lies with captain Rashid Khan and coach Ravi Bopara.

For the unversed, Mohammad Amir has registered in the Afghanistan Premier League as a British citizen. Further, Irfan Pathan, in the same video, heaped massive praise on the former Pakistan star and labelled him as an experienced speedster.
“He is an experienced player. He is a senior player. My focus would be to help young bowlers from Afghanistan. If they require any help, then I would be there to help them nurture and improve their skills,” Pathan concluded.

The Warriors signed Mohammad Amir as their first pick. He was available to be picked in the Platinum Category, with the price set at USD 100,000 (94,75,000 INR approx).
Along with Amir, Tymal Mills, Joe Clarke, George Munsey, Kusal Perera, Ibrahim Masood and Dwaine Pretorius were the other overseas players in the Kandahar Warriors squad for APL 2026/27.
Notably, Amir also has the chance to register for IPL auction via british citizenship, but he recently refused that discussion.
