The preparations for IPL 2027 are in full swing. Teams have time till November 17 to fix their retentions, and the mini-auction is most likely to be held on December 16. In the latest events, Delhi Capitals head coach Sourav Ganguly has namedropped two overseas stars that DC will target for IPL 2027.
Speaking to Anandabazar Patrika, Sourav Ganguly revealed that they are looking to bring back Jake Fraser McGurk and Shai Hope during the IPL 2027 mini-auction.
Shai Hope and JFM are a key part of Delhi Capitals’ plans
Jake Fraser McGurk featured for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2024 when he signed as a replacement for Lungi Ngidi. He made an immediate impact and scored 330 runs in 9 innings. However, McGurk failed to replicate his performance in the next season.
In IPL 2025, McGurk scored just 55 runs in 6 innings and was released for IPL 2026. Recently, the Australia opener has regained his lost mojo and scored 259 runs in 4 innings in the Australia One-Day Cup.
For Shai Hope, he represented Delhi Capitals in 2024 but was released after just one season. Hope would be in demand because of his recent tour to India. The Windies keeper-batter scored 261 runs in 4 T20I matches, which featured two centuries and a fifty-plus score.
Hope also had a brilliant ODI series, scoring 278 runs in 3 innings. He averaged 139 and slammed two centuries.
Delhi Capitals: Busy In Trade Window Ahead of IPL 2027
So far, Delhi Capitals have been the busiest team in the trade window. In the first trade for IPL 2027, the Capitals brought back Rishabh Pant in exchange for Kuldeep Yadav, who headed to Lucknow Super Giants.
In another move, Delhi Capitals have also traded T. Natarajan to Sunrisers Hyderabad and roped in Zeeshan Ansari to replace Kuldeep Yadav. The trade window is yet to close and all teams, including Delhi Capitals are looking for more trades before the mini-auction.
