Gujarat Titans' IPL 2026 Member Joins New T20 Franchise

There is a new T20 league in town, and the buzz has already started as the European T20 Premier League is set to blow away the fans with thrilling matches. The tournament will take place in The Hague and Dublin, as franchises will compete to become the best in the business.

The tournament has garnered interest from across the globe, and even Bollywood superstars have become a part of the league that could turn out to be a game-changer.

What is ETPL, and who owns the league?

The European T20 Premier League is being run in collaboration with the cricket boards of Ireland, Scotland, and the Netherlands, with the franchises based in Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Belfast, Dublin, Glasgow, and Edinburgh.

Bollywood actor Abhishek Bachchan is also a part of the league and owns the tournament, partially alongside Rules Sport Tech, a private Indian company.

GT coach Matthew Hayden joins Glasgow franchise

In the latest development, the Gujarat Titans' batting coach, Matthew Hayden, is set to become the coach of the Glasgow Cosmic for the inaugural edition of the tournament.

Hayden, who retired in 2012 has split his time between coaching and commentary gigs, and his latest adventure takes him to Glasgow as the franchise has roped in the Aussie legend in their coaching department.

He was roped in by the IPL side, the Gujarat Titans ahead of the 2026 season, and after a successful stint with them, Hayden is set for a new journey in the European T20 Premier League. Apart from GT, Hayden has also worked with the Pakistan national team during the T20 World Cup 2021.

The former Australian opener will mainly be responsible for improving the team’s power-hitting, a role he did to perfection for the Titans in the IPL.

The Glasgow Cosmic is owned by the Mugafi Group, an India-based entertainment business, and the franchise has made the first move by signing a top coach for the upcoming season.

What Hayden brings to the table in ETPL

During his playing days, Matthew Hayden was one of the most fearsome openers across formats, and he was a proven match-winner in Tests, T20Is, and ODI format.

Having himself been an aggressive batter, Hayden understands the art of T20 cricket, and the former Australian star will aim to replicate his ideas as the Glasgow batters will learn the art of power-hitting from Hayden.

Who are the players set to play in ETPL?

Interestingly, several high-profile international names have put forward their names for the inaugural ETPL season. Moreover, all the cricketers who are currently active at the international circuit have decided to play in the tournament.

The likes of Finn Allen (New Zealand), Lungi Ngidi (South Africa), and Liam Livingstone (England) have given the green light to take part in the inaugural European T20 Premier League, set to take place from 26 August to 20 September.

It is expected that more big names will sign up for the league as ETPL is slated to go on the floors soon.
