Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) ended their IPL 2026 campaign in the perfect way by defeating Gujarat Titans (GT) in the final on May 31 and lifting their second consecutive title.
The victory was special for many reasons, and even more for Virat Kohli, who enjoyed another winning moment with the franchise he has represented for the last 18 years.
RCB defeated Gujarat Titans by five wickets in Ahmedabad to become only the third team in IPL history to win back-to-back titles after Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians.
Kohli played a crucial role in the final, scoring an unbeaten 75 runs off just 42 balls and guiding his side to victory.
Virat Kohli RCB's Biggest Match-Winner
When the pressure was high, Kohli stepped up and delivered a strong performance with the bat. Chasing a target of 156, RCB got off to a flying start thanks to an explosive 62-run opening partnership between Kohli and Venkatesh Iyer.
Virat Kohli reached his half-century in just 25 balls, making it the fastest fifty of his IPL career. His aggressive and controlled approach gave RCB complete control of the chase.
Earlier in the match, RCB's bowlers lived up to expectations and restricted the Gujarat Titans to 155/8.
Rasikh Salam Dar starred with figures of 3/27, while Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Josh Hazlewood picked up two wickets each. Krunal Pandya also impressed with an economical spell.
For Gujarat Titans, Washington Sundar fought hard with an unbeaten 50 off 37 balls, helping his side cross the 150-run mark.
