On Friday, PSL suffered a massive jolt as Zimbabwean pacer Blessing Muzarabani rejected them and joined the IPL side KKR for the upcoming season, which commences on March 28. Muzarabani was set to represent Islamabad United, but when KKR came calling, he immediately decided to leave PSL.

The contract was signed with the fast bowler, but at the last moment, he backed out as PSL suffered a huge blow. Apparently, Mohsin Naqvi, the PCB Chairman is furious and could take legal action against Muzarabani.

Interestingly, Muzarabani is not the first player to have pulled out of the PSL 2026. Several big names have either taken back their names or have decided to snub the league despite repetitive requests. Here is a list of such players who have decided not to take part in PSL this year.

List of players who have withdrew/rejected playing in PSL 2026

  • Harry Brook
  • Rahmanullah Gurbaz
  • Faf du Plessis
  • David Wiese
  • Blessing Muzarabani
  • Tymal Mills
  • Mujeeb-Ur Rehman
  • Mohammad Nabi
  • Fazalhaq Farooqi

Harry Brook won’t take part in the PSL, and the news was confirmed by the Lahore Qalandars owner, Sameen Rana. The team had approached Brook to take part in the PSL, but he rejected the move to focus on international cricket.

Gurbaz, the Afghanistan opener, was signed by Peshawar Zalmi, but he pulled out of the league, citing a busy schedule. His withdrawal was met with criticism as Pakistan fans bashed him online.

English pacer, Tymal Mills, also pulled out of the league, citing personal reasons. Meanwhile, former Namibian star, David Wiese, will also snub the PSL due to family commitments.

The latest player to leave the league is Zimbabwe’s Blessing Muzarabani. He was slated to take part in the PSL, but when KKR wanted to replace Mustafizur Rahman with him, the pacer couldn’t say no as he left the league after signing the contract.

Why Muzarabani was picked by KKR at the last moment

During the IPL 2026 mini auction, Mustafizur Rahman was roped in by KKR for the 2026 season. However, due to the geopolitical tension between India and Bangladesh, KKR was pressurised to release the Bangladesh seamer.

The franchise obeyed the order and they released Mustafizur without him even playing a single game. Now, with less than two weeks left for the IPL, the franchise needed a solid replacement, and they went ahead with the red-hot Muzarabani, who did well in the T20 World Cup.

Penalties players can receive for skipping PSL

Barring Harry Brook, who never made it to the league and was only approached, several players could be in line for punishment. The likes of Gurbaz, Mills, and Wiese could be handed a ban by their respective franchises since they were bought in the league, and they pulled out.

Reports have also stated that Muzarabani, who recently widthrew his name could face legal consequences, and a one-year ban from the PSL.

The players who have withdrawn their names could be handed a fine, and PCB could also take legal action for not abiding by the contract.
