The stage is set for a riveting IPL 2026 match as the hosts, Chennai Super Kings, will take on the visiting Delhi Capitals side at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. CSK, alongside KKR, is the only team in the tournament to have yet to win a single game. The Ruturaj Gaikwad-led side has lost three in a row, and will be under pressure against the Capitals.

CSK’s leader of the group, MS Dhoni, has missed all three games and will miss the clash against DC as the former captain is yet to recover from his injury. Moreover, the form of the CSK top-order batters has been questionable, and the batting needs to come good if the Yellow Army is to beat the Capitals.

Talking about the Delhi Capitals, they have won two and have lost a solitary game in IPL 2026. The Axar Patel-led side suffered a heartbreaking defeat in the last match vs the Gujarat Titans, and they’ll be eager to get back to winning ways.

Delhi Capitals won the toss and captain Axar Patel had no hesitation in electing to bowl first on a surface where batting gets easy in the second innings. DC have handed debut cap to Jammu and Kashmir pacer, Auqib Nabi, who was bought for INR 8.40 crore in the mini auction.

DC have made two changes- Vipraj Nigam misses out, and Auqib Nabi comes in. Ashutosh Sharma comes in for Nitish Rana.

CSK, have also been handed a major boost as South African star, Dewald Brevis makes his return in the playing XI after being on the sidelines due to a side strain.

Ruturaj Gaikwad (Chennai Super Kings Captain): "[Would he have bowled as well] Yeah, obviously it is a fresh pitch. Red soil pitch. I feel there would be help in the initial few overs but I think it is a bit on the dry side as well. We were 50-50 on the toss, good to bat first. 

[On getting off the mark] That's what we have been trying in the last few games. We have been improving in all departments. Batting has been doing really well. Just that there have been a few moments we should have been cashing on and we have been missing out on that but definitely everyone is in good zone and good to go.
