MS Dhoni and Chennai Super Kings Team [Source: X]
Much like the International Cricket Council, Chennai Super Kings, one of the most successful teams in the Indian Premier League, have inaugurated their Hall of Fame with two major names. CSK has always been a franchise that leans on trust, loyalty, and brand image, largely steered by former captain MS Dhoni.
However, Suresh Raina and Australia legend Matthew Hayden have been named as the first Hall of Fame inductees for CSK ahead of IPL 2026, as the team acknowledged their contributions to the franchise and their legacy in cricket and in the yellow jersey.
What Is The Hall Of Fame in Cricket?
The Hall of Fame in cricket is the most prestigious global recognition in the sport, where cricketers and legends who have significantly shaped its history are honoured.
The tradition was launched in 2009, celebrating players based on their outstanding on-field excellence. Generally, players who have retired from international cricket at least five years prior to their induction are eligible for nomination.
In the case of Chennai Super Kings as well, both Suresh Raina and Matthew Hayden exceed this retirement tenure to earn their place in the CSK Hall of Fame.

Suresh Raina And Matthew Hayden’s Contributions For Chennai
Raina has been a loyal and faithful member of the Yellow Army since the inception of the Indian Premier League alongside MS Dhoni. Since the IPL's first season, he has been a consistent performer for the team before retiring in 2021.
His IPL career includes a total of 5,528 runs at a solid average of 32.51 from 205 matches. He has one century and 39 half-centuries to his name in the tournament, further highlighting his massive contribution to the CSK. Matthew Hayden, on the other hand, played only three seasons before exiting the tournament.
He featured in the 2008, 2009, and 2010 IPL seasons, scoring a total of 1,107 runs from 32 matches while maintaining an impressive average of 36.90, along with eight half-centuries.
Boasting a legendary lineup since their inception, Chennai, after their latest CSK Roar 2026 event, headlined by MS Dhoni, announced these two cricketers as their first Hall of Fame inductees, considering that both have been retired for over five years.
Whether Chennai continues this tradition remains to be seen, as many more legendary cricketers will soon complete five years since retirement and could be inducted into the Hall of Fame alongside these iconic figures.
CSK Lock In IPL 2026 After Dismal Season
As of IPL 2026, Chennai Super Kings will begin their campaign against Rajasthan Royals in Guwahati on March 30, followed by a home game against Punjab Kings on April 3, and then a marquee clash against Royal Challengers Bangalore on April 5, before facing Delhi Capitals on April 11.
The rest of the schedule is yet to be revealed by the governing body due to the current election scenario. Until then, Chennai will be keen to start their campaign strongly after finishing at the bottom of the table last season, under MS Dhoni, winning only four out of their 14 matches.
