Chennai Super Kings entered the auction with a purse value 43.4 crores. They released most of their talents after finishing 10th on the table in IPL 2025. Overall, they had a great auction because they targeted younger faces.
Notably, the Super Kings spent 14.20 crores each on Prashant Veer and Kartik Sharma, two domestic talents. It is a big gamble but the five-time winners are now banking on the domestic stars.
Chennai Super Kings bought nine players in auction and covered all their bases ahead of IPL 2026. CSK brought in two spinners, Akeal Hosein and Rahul Chahar as a back-up to Noor Ahmad. Notably, R Ashwin has retired and CSK were short of a quality spinner in the side.
Talking about overseas talents, the five-time winners also roped in Matt Henry and Zakary Foulkes to strengthen the bowling attack. Further, Matthew Short was also picked up for 1.50 crores. Among the Indian talents, Sarfaraz Khan was the notable name.
Besides the auction, CSK were active in trade where they roped in Sanju Samson from Rajasthan Royals and traded Sam Curran and Ravindra Jadeja to Rajasthan Royals as part of the deal.
