Chaos Breaks Out In Ekana Stadium [Source: AFP]
The Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow has landed in controversy after it poorly organised the recent IPL 2026 clash between LSG and the Gujarat Titans.
The match was held on Sunday, April 12, in the afternoon. LSG couldn’t bat well in the first inning and lost the game by 7 wickets as GT wrapped up the chase with 8 balls to spare.
Drinking water crisis hits Ekana Stadium
Meanwhile, during the LSG vs GT game in IPL 2026, Ekana Stadium turned into a chaotic warzone. According to a video circulating on social media, the stadium lacked basic drinking water facilities.
In the video, fans could be seen chaotically searching for drinking water while the organisers failed to provide it. Lucknow was sizzling with scorching heat, and hence, free water services were supposed to be non-negotiable.

However, the Ekana Stadium management messed up big time. With the video out now, fans are angry and bashing the franchise, LSG, as well.
LSG, owned by businessman Sanjiv Goenka, chose Ekana as their home ground. However, if they continue to fail to provide basic facilities, IPL authorities may be forced to take action very soon.

A fight erupted at Ekana previously
Before the drinking water crisis, the Ekana Stadium landed in another controversy during the LSG vs DC game. During the contest, an ugly physical fight broke out between fans in the stands.
The situation quickly spiralled before security personnel and police stepped in to control the chaos, with videos of the clash going viral on social media.
While the exact trigger remains unclear, the episode once again put Ekana Stadium in a bad light.
On the field, however, it was a dominant performance from the Delhi Capitals, who comfortably defeated LSG by six wickets.
Rishabh Pant’s side struggled with the bat, collapsing to 141, despite contributions from Mitchell Marsh and Abdul Samad.
In response, Delhi Capitals overcame an early wobble thanks to a match-winning, unbeaten partnership between Sameer Rizvi and Tristan Stubbs.
LSG is yet to win a home game
That being said, the Ekana Stadium is no longer LSG’s fortress in the IPL 2026 season. After the defeat against the Delhi Capitals, LSG bowed down to the Gujarat Titans on Sunday, April 12.
LSG again struggled with the bat, scoring 164/8 in the first 20 overs. Aiden Markram was the highest run-scorer at 30 as no batter managed to score a single half-century.
In response, the Gujarat Titans' top order flourished. Shubman Gill smashed 56 off 40 balls while Jos Buttler switched gears with 60 off 37 balls. Washington Sundar added 21 runs in the death overs to help GT chase down the target with 8 balls to spare.
With that loss, LSG dropped to the sixth position on the points table with 4 points in 4 games.
