In an unexpected turn, Shubman Gill reportedly insulted Rishabh Pant on Instagram. The off-field drama kicked off when fans noticed Gill’s social media activities on a reel involving Pant.
Gill and Pant recently met during the IPL 2026 clash between LSG and the Gujarat Titans. The duo greeted each other normally at the toss and appeared in happy spirits. However, on social media, the narrative changed.
Shubman Gill likes the insulting reel on Rishabh Pant
Recently, a fan account posted an Instagram reel on Rishabh Pant, calling him ‘chapri.’ The reel showed Pant hitting Bhuvneshwar Kumar all over the park during his time with Delhi Daredevils in the IPL.
Interestingly, fans noticed that Shubman Gill had liked that reel, which showed Pant in a derogatory light.
That single like became the basis for “rift” claims. In today’s cricket culture, even a small social media action is a big narrative. Hence, fans connected the dots quickly.
However, as things stand, there is no rift between Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant. They’ve been teammates for the longest time and are always cordial on and off the field.
Even during the latest IPL 2026 game, Gill and Pant were warm to each other and shared hearty laughs.

Gill’s GT beat Pant’s LSG
Talking about the game, the Gujarat Titans beat LSG by 7 wickets in a low-scoring chase at the Ekana Stadium. Batting first, Lucknow posted just 164/8 on the board, which appeared below-par on a decent surface.
Rishabh Pant couldn't contribute much as he got dismissed on 18 off 11 balls. Moreover, no LSG batter crossed 30 after Aiden Markram. Prasidh Krishna bowled beautifully for Gujarat, picking up 4 wickets to break LSG’s backbone.
Gujarat Titans, on the other hand, took early control in the chase. Shubman Gill scored 56 while Jos Buttler hammered 60 off just 37 balls. The 84-run stand between the openers gave GT the perfect platform.
With a late contribution from Washington Sundar, the Gujarat Titans completed the chase in 18.4 overs.
GT, LSG are neck-to-neck on the points table
Despite the loss, LSG are not further behind compared to Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2026 points table. With 4 points each, GT climbed to fifth while LSG ranked sixth.
Delhi Capitals also have four points, but with a strong NRR, they’re seated fourth on the table. At the other end, pressure is already mounting on teams like the Mumbai Indians, CSK, and KKR, who have struggled to find consistency early in the tournament.
KKR have not won a single game, while CSK got their first two points just last week. MI lost their third game against RCB and dropped to the eighth spot.
Rajasthan Royals, meanwhile, are yet to taste defeat and are comfortably seated at the top of the table with 8 points.
