Cameron Green for Hardik Pandya in discussion [Source: AFP]
Hardik Pandya’s future with Mumbai Indians continues to remain uncertain, as trade talks surrounding the star all-rounder are still ongoing. Several teams have reportedly shown interest in acquiring the MI captain.
Among them, Kolkata Knight Riders appear to be one of the strongest contenders, especially after Ajinkya Rahane retired from all forms of cricket. However, despite the growing interest, a possible trade involving Hardik Pandya is yet to reach a final conclusion.
Moreover, Mumbai Indians are believed to have clear expectations regarding what they want in return for their star all-rounder.
Cameron Green Trade Might Not Attract Mumbai Indians
Meanwhile, reports have suggested that Hardik Pandya could be open to leaving Mumbai Indians. As a result, a trade could be an option for both the player and the franchise. KKR are reportedly interested in bringing Hardik into their squad.
Nevertheless, the Knight Riders are not keen on giving away their marquee players as part of the deal. This has made negotiations more complicated. According to Cricbuzz, KKR could consider offering Australian all-rounder Cameron Green in exchange for Hardik. However, this option may not be attractive to Mumbai Indians.
The major concern is Cameron Green’s availability for IPL 2027. Australia are scheduled to play important Test matches against India and England, while the Ashes are also expected to follow the IPL. Therefore, Cameron Green could have a packed international calendar, which may limit his participation in the tournament.
For Mumbai Indians, this could be a major issue. The franchise would likely want players who can contribute throughout the IPL season. Hence, a player whose availability is uncertain may not fully meet their requirements.
Cameron Green, meanwhile, already has a connection with Mumbai Indians. He previously represented the franchise and played 16 matches for them, scoring 452 runs and taking six wickets.

What Other Players Can KKR Offer?
Since KKR are reportedly unwilling to sacrifice their marquee names, they could explore other options. Mumbai Indians are expected to need a top-order batter, especially with Quinton de Kock potentially leaving the franchise. Therefore, Tim Seifert could become one option for KKR to consider. Notably, Seifert could provide additional flexibility in the batting department.
Another name could be Angkrish Raghuvanshi. The young batter has experience in Mumbai and is familiar with the conditions at Wankhede Stadium. Moreover, KKR have previously shown a willingness to move young players in trades when it suits their squad-building plans.
Meanwhile, Blessing Muzarabani could also enter the discussion. Mumbai Indians might need another pace option if Trent Boult leaves the franchise. Notably, Blessing Muzarabani’s pace and ability to bowl effectively in different conditions could therefore make him an interesting option for Mumbai. As a result, KKR could potentially use him as part of a larger trade package.
Hardik Awaits Mumbai Indians’ Decision
Meanwhile, Hardik Pandya is reportedly nearing full fitness after spending considerable time at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru.
After earlier discussions with Mumbai Indians, the all-rounder now awaits clarity from the franchise regarding his future.
