Saim Ayub’s NOC Cancellation For PSL’s 2nd Costliest Team A New Fight For Mohsin Naqvi

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), led by Mohsin Naqvi, has taken an important decision regarding Pakistan opener Saim Ayub. Notably, Ayub was expected to play for Jamaica Kingsmen in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL 2026). However, the PCB has denied him a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for the tournament.

The decision comes just days before the CPL 2026 gets underway. Moreover, it could create another challenge for the PCB, especially due to the connection between Jamaica Kingsmen and the Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Hyderabad Kingsmen.

PCB Denies NOC To Saim Ayub

In a significant development, the PCB has reportedly refused to issue an NOC to Saim Ayub for CPL 2026. Notably, the tournament began on August 7, with Jamaica Kingsmen taking on Antigua and Barbuda Falcons in Kingstown.

It is important to note that Ayub was signed by Jamaica Kingsmen as an overseas player. However, he will now miss the opportunity to return to the CPL after three years.

The Pakistan opener has already made a strong impact in the Caribbean. In 2023, he finished as the second-highest run-scorer in the competition. He scored 478 runs in 13 innings for Guyana Amazon Warriors at an impressive strike rate of 142.26. 

Moreover, Ayub has developed into a useful all-rounder. Along with his batting, he can also bowl mystery spin and has several variations in his bowling.

Saim Ayub Set To Lead Pakistan Whites

According to Pakistan Cricshadows, Ayub's NOC rejection could be linked to his domestic commitments. The 24-year-old has been named captain of Pakistan Whites for the upcoming National Champions Cup.

The 50-over List A tournament is scheduled to take place from August 11 to August 18, 2026, at the Multan Cricket Stadium. Therefore, the PCB might want Ayub to focus on his domestic responsibilities instead of allowing him to travel to the Caribbean. 

Hyderabad Kingsmen Connection Makes It Interesting

It is important to note that the situation becomes more interesting due to Saim Ayub's connection with the Hyderabad Kingsmen. The franchise entered the PSL after the PCB expanded the tournament from six to eight teams.

Notably, Hyderabad Kingsmen made their debut alongside Rawalpindi during PSL 2026 season. The franchise is owned by US-based businessman and FKS Group president Fawad Sarwar. Sarwar bought the Hyderabad franchise for PKR 1.75 billion per year during the PSL expansion auction in January 2026. 

As a result, Hyderabad Kingsmen became the second-most expensive team in PSL history, behind the Sialkot franchise. Interestingly, Fawad Sarwar also owns Jamaica Kingsmen. Therefore, Ayub's NOC decision has an additional angle involving a PSL team owner.

It is also important to note that the development also comes at a time when Sarwar has reportedly raised concerns about Pakistan cricket. According to a recent report, he warned PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi and urged the board to take necessary steps to improve the national team’s performances.

As a result, the decision adds another layer to the relationship between the PCB, Mohsin Naqvi and one of the league’s biggest franchise owners.
