India squad for Afghanistan Test: Rishabh Pant removed as Test vice-captain
Rishabh Pant is no longer the vice-captain of the Test squad, and KL Rahul has taken over the role. This comes in as a surprise as Pant had done well in red-ball cricket, and at one stage, was touted to replace Rohit Sharma as the long-term Test skipper.
Perhaps, Pant’s leadership in the IPL 2026 season affected his vice-captaincy role as the LSG captain has failed to inspire his team, and the franchise crashed out of the IPL 2026 playoffs race.
