Pakistan showed complete support for Bangladesh and raised their voice when the latter were kicked out of the T20 World Cup 2026 due to sudden geopolitical tensions between them and India.
However, it seems like the Tamim Iqbal-run Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is unlikely to have that in mind any longer, as it is hoping to shatter Pakistan’s hopes in a major ICC tournament. The relationship between India’s two noisy neighbours appears not to be going well.
Bangladesh Prepare To Make New Moves For Pakistan Tests
After a three-match ODI series in March, Pakistan will tour Bangladesh once again. This time, it will be a two-match Test affair, scheduled to take place in May as a part of the World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 cycle. The dates and the venues, however, are yet to be determined.
According to the GeoSuper, the Test matches between Pakistan and Bangladesh will begin on May 8 and May 16 respectively, with the venues yet to be finalised.
The report further added that Sylhet International Cricket Stadium would host the first Test match.

Usually, Mirpur’s Sher-E-Bangla National Cricket Stadium hosts Bangladesh’s Test matches, with Sylhet only having five Tests so far. To give the readers a contest, Mirpur has hosted 29 Tests.
The reason behind picking Sylhet as BCB’s venue for the red-ball series against Pakistan because it typically provides a bouncy track. GeoSuper reported that this is BCB’s strategy to tackle the Pakistan attack, which they believe has a weaker pace bowling unit than them.
However, the second Test, is expected to be played at Mirpur’s Sher-E-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.
Why BCB Is Planning To Make A Change For PCB Test?
A country that has produced supremos like Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis and Shoaib Akhtar, among many others, Pakistan have been struggling to have genuine pace options lately. Instead, Noman Ali and Sajid Khan – their spin bowling duo – look more lethal.
Therefore, the BCB, who just had Tamim Iqbal as their new interim president, is set to make a decision based on the opponent’s weakness instead of their own strength. Now, time will tell how exactly it will fare for them.
With Pakistan sitting fifth on the WTC 2025-27 points table, having won once and lost the other, the Bangladesh Test series holds the key for the Men in Green. However, a defeat in Bangladesh could be a bit of a problem for them for WTC final hopes.
What Happened When Pakistan Last Toured Bangladesh?
Under the leadership of Shaheen Afridi, Pakistan recently visited Bangladesh with plenty of new faces. The series began on March 11, when the Men in Green were out of the T20 World Cup 2026 without qualifying for the knock-outs.
The ODI series against Pakistan was historic for Bangladesh. They, under Mehidy Hasan Miraz’s guidance, won a 50-over series for the first time in 11 years.
Bangladesh speedster Nahid Rana and opener Tanzid Hasan Tamim were brilliant in their departments, and were fittingly adjudged the Player of the Series, which they eventually shared.
