Sahibzada Farhan, easily the best batsman from Pakistan in the shortest format of the game right now, has been released by Multan Sultans in the middle of PSL 2026. Along with him, Sohaib Maqsood has been released as well, raising many eyebrows in Pakistan.
Sahibzada Farhan was extremely impressive with the bat for Pakistan during the T20 World Cup 2026. Despite the Men in Green failing to qualify for the semi-finals, he ended up the highest run-getter of the competition.
Farhan averaged over 76 in the competition, having made 383 runs at a strike rate of 160.25.
He kept the momentum in PSL 2026 as well, helping Multan Sultans move to the top of the points table. However, in the middle of all things, Multan Sultans released him from the squad.
Before joining Multan Sultans, Farhan played for three other PSL franchises – Islamabad United, Karachi Kings, and Lahore Qalandars. He turned 30 this year in March.
Sahibzada Farhan, Sohaib Maqsood Released During PSL 2026
As GeoSuper revealed, a Multan Sultans spokesperson confirmed that Sahibzada Farhan and Sohaib Maqsood have received a break during PSL 2026. The decision was taken in accordance with the rules and regulations set by team owner Gohar Shah and coach Tim Paine.
According to them, players can take time off whenever there is a break in Multan Sultans’ PSL 2026 schedule. As Sultans will next play on April 13 against the Peshawar Zalmi, Farhan and Maqsood can spend some time with their family, if not there are some other important works.

Sahibzada Farhan's Numbers In PSL 2026
Just like the T20 World Cup 2026, Farhan is at the top of the PSL 2026 run-getters’ chart. Having tallied 232 runs across five innings, Sahibzada Farhan averages 58 at a strike rate of 181.25.
The second on the list is 19-year-old Sameer Minhas, who has 180 runs in three innings, averaging 90 while striking at a superb rate of 171.43.
Moreover, Farhan has smashed a century in PSL 2026. It was against Hyderabad Kingsmen, in which he smashed eight sixes and seven fours in a spectacular knock of 57-ball 106.
Multan Sultans' Journey In PSL 2026
With four wins in five matches, Multan Sultans have secured the top spot of the PSL 2026 points table under the leadership of Ashton Turner.
The combination of Steve Smith and Farhan has done decently so far at the top, while the bowling attack is stacked with Shehzad Gul, Mohammad Nawaz, Peter Siddle and Mohammad Wasim Jr, among others.
Nevertheless, Arafat Minhas, Sameer’s elder brother, is the highest wicket-taker in PSL 2026 from Multan Sultans. Arafat has taken five wickets in as many matches, averaging 14.80.
