Regional tensions have now cast a long shadow over Pakistan's upcoming tour of Bangladesh, with significant changes expected in the squad for the assignment as well.
With the tour scheduled for March 9, starting with the ODI series at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka, now, the American-Iran war have put the series in jeopardy.
However, the Bangladesh Cricket Board said on Monday that they have not received any official communication from the Pakistan Cricket Board regarding a possible postponement.
Why The Bangladesh vs Pakistan ODI Series Might Get Cancelled?
As per reports, the ongoing regional tensions have made the highly anticipated tour tour uncertain due to prevailing travel risks and security concerns for the team.
Amid this escalation, discussions around the Men in Green's squad have also become a hot topic, with youngsters likely to be given opportunities at the expense of underperforming players like Babar Azam, Saim Ayub and Mohammad Nawaz.
Notably, the Men in Green were knocked out of the tournament after they were defeated by the net run rate. Even though they still have a week left before travelling to Bangladesh. BCB Cricket Operations Chairman Nazmul Abeeden Fahim stated that the board remains in the dark over any change of plans from Pakistan.

BCB Responds To Pakistan Series Cancellation
Speaking to the Daily Sun, Fahim said that if the Green jerseys cannot travel because of the ongoing tensions, it is out of Bangladesh’s hands. However, he also noted that they have not received any message regarding cancellation or any correspondence from the PCB yet.
“If this comes to a stage where they can't travel, then we cannot do anything. But so far we haven't received any correspondence from PCB in that regard,” Fahim told Daily Sun.
PCB will speculate on the fate of the tour too as Fahim further indicated that the BCB is continuing with its earlier plans and has prepared extensively for the Bangladesh vs Pakistan series.
The series is set to be part of both teams' preparation for the 50-over cycle leading up to the 2027 World Cup and would also mark Bangladesh’s return to ODI cricket since their home series against West Indies in October last year.
Pakistan’s Hot And Cold T20 World Cup 2026 Venture
Salman Agha & Co. had a hot-and-cold T20 World Cup 2026 journey. Having been placed in the same Group A as India, the Men in Green won three out of the four matches they played in the group stage, with their only defeat coming against India on February 15 by 61 runs.
However, this did not affect their campaign as they smoothly moved to the Super 8 stage, where they first had an encounter with New Zealand, which was unfortunately abandoned due to rain. Their second encounter against England was lost, as the latter won the match with five balls remaining.
While chasing a decent target of 165, Harry Brook led the charge with his 51-ball 100, which almost ended the Men in Green's hopes of reaching the semi-finals.
Although they were in limbo, England's victory against New Zealand once again reignited their hopes of making it to the semis, before Sri Lanka nearly sealed their fate while chasing a stiff target of 213 runs. Though Sri Lanka failed, the net run rate saw Pakistan crash out of the tournament, with New Zealand moving ahead with England to the semis.
