Former Pakistan opener Fakhar Zaman shut the noise around the ball-tampering scandal, which recently happened in the Pakistan Super League (PSL). The 36-year-old, who was recently suspended for matches due to the ball tampering allegations, finally found the mojo with the bat in hand.

Fakhar served the unwanted ban by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), led by Mohsin Naqvi. Needless to say, it was a shameful feat for the former Pakistan opener, who once single-handedly dominated India in the Champions Trophy 2017 final to take them to the glory.

Fakhar Zaman Lights Up PSL With Spectacular Century

Fakhar Zaman was at his absolute best on Tuesday while playing for Lahore Qalandars in their PSL 2026 match against Quetta Gladiators at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore. He smashed Pakistan’s regular spinner Abrar Ahmed for a six to get his three-digit mark.

It was Fakhar’s third PSL century, with the first and second coming back in the 2021/22 and 2022/23 seasons. Moreover, he also had the most number of fifty or more knocks at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.

Eventually, Fakhar fell shortly after his statement century, as Usman Tariq got his wicket during the 17th over of Lahore’s innings. Nevertheless, it was one of the best knocks by any Lahore Qalandars player in the history of the PSL, and should warn the Mohsin Naqvi's PCB if the board decides to write him off.

When PCB Banned Fakhar Zaman For PSL Ball Tampering

Fakhar Zaman recently served the two-match ban by the Mohsin Naqvi-led PCB. He did not take part in Lahore’s match against Multan Sultans on April 3 and Islamabad United on April 9 due to ball tampering.

Match referee Roshan Mahanama imposed the ban, handing Fakhar Zaman a maximum penalty due to a ball-tampering charge. It was a level three offence – first ever in the competition – under the PSL code of conduct.

After that, Fakhar had lodged an appeal to withdraw his ban, only to be disappointed later.

When Ball Tampering Became Cricket's Biggest Topic

Ball Tampering was the most talked-about subject in cricket back in 2018. Back then, Australia's three players – Steve Smith, David Warner and Cameron Bancroft – were charged after Australia’s third Test against South Africa, which took place at Newlands, Cape Town.

Later, Smith admitted that they made the mistake of the highest order, for which they served bans in different capacities.
