The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) unveiled the IPL 2026 schedule in two different phases due to the assembly elections. Yet, the IPL 2026 final venue and other IPL playoffs fixtures have not been announced.
However, a massive hint dropped on Saturday regarding this year’s IPL final venue, and it seemed like the BCCI would soon make it official.
Rajat Patidar Reveals IPL 2026 Final Venue
Defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) were in action on Saturday afternoon, wearing the iconic green jersey against Delhi Capitals. Bengaluru’s M. Chinnaswamy Stadium hosted the high-octane match.
There, while coming at the toss, RCB captain Rajat Patidar confidently said the IPL 2026 final venue is none other than M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. As the Bengaluru-based franchise are reigning champion, they, in all likelihood, will get an opportunity to defend the title in front of their home crowd.
“[On making Chinnaswamy a fortress] There was a lot of planning behind it, and as we know this year, we have a final at Chinnaswamy, and we have to win all the home matches,” RCB captain Rajat Patidar said at the toss.
Earlier, it was reported that the Chinnaswamy might host the IPL 2026 final, but now, with Patidar’s comment, it seems like only official announcements are pending.
How Have RCB Performed At Chinnaswamy Stadium In IPL 2026?
RCB, under the leadership of Patidar, have been doing wonders in every department this season. They have four wins in five attempts in IPL 2026, which included three victories at home, M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.
RCB’s wins at Chinnaswamy in IPL 2026 came against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Mumbai Indians (MI). All of their victories were commanding ones. Therefore, Patidar seemed very confident that it would become a fortress in the coming years.
RCB will have two more league-stage fixtures in IPL 2026 at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. Shubman Gill-led Gujarat Titans and KL Rahul-starred Delhi Capitals will be their opposition. Other than that, Raipur’s Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Cricket Stadium will host RCB’s remaining two home fixtures.
Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders will be RCB’s opposition in Raipur.
Has Chinnaswamy Stadium Hosted An IPL Final Before?
Chinnaswamy Stadium only hosted one IPL final. It came in 2016, when RCB had the opportunity to end the trophy drought by facing Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the final.
Unfortunately, RCB did not have the last laugh at home that time around, as SRH ended up winning it by eight runs under the leadership of David Warner.
In the final, Chris Gayle played magnificently well, smashing 76 off 38 balls after coming to chase 209. However, others, barring Virat Kohli, who made 54 off 35 balls, failed to live up to their lofty expectations.
Finally, RCB broke the IPL trophy drought last year, and they would love to defend the title at home once the BCCI makes the formal announcement.
