Lahore Qalandars cricket team in Pakistan Super League (PSL) haven’t been at their best recently, neither with their cricket nor with their ill fate with player injuries. Adding to their woe, a player from the Qalandars camp was tragically injured during a practice session ahead of the April 9 match against Islamabad United.

The team was hit by a tragedy after a bowler from the team was accidentally injured while bowling in the nets. Apparently, the bowler had to be admitted to the hospital as the Lahore Qalandars had to traverse through the mishap.

Qalandars Camp In Disarray After Bowler Injury

Accidents are a part and parcel of a high-intensity tournament; however, the Qalandars bowler almost suffered a Ben Stokes-like injury in the face during the training session. The intensity of the accident has further aggravated the situation of the camp.

Reportedly, as per TOK Sports, a net bowler of the Qalandars team was hit on the face badly as he was throwing down deliveries for batters to practice hitting. A shot from a batter directly hit the young bowler’s face, and he felt immense pain.

Net Bowler Rushed To The Hospital On An Ambulance

The practice session was halted immediately as Lahore Qalandars players, along with captain Shaheen Afridi, rushed to the bowler to console him. Fortunately it was not a deadly hit, given the seriousness of the injury on the face.

After a while, an ambulance was called as viral footage on the internet showed the skipper of the team escorting the young boy towards it.

With the whole Qalandars team concerned with the development, though it has not been officially confirmed, it is likely that the bowler was hit by one of the Qalandars batters while practising in the nets.

Lahore Qalandars Boast Strong Form in PSL 2026

Fortunately, no Qalandars squad member has been injured as they head for their next fixture against Islamabad. So far, the team has played three matches in the league while emerging victorious in two of them. Their only loss was against Karachi Kings; however, they bounced back against Multan Sultans to bag a comfortable win at Gaddafi Stadium.

Shaheen Afridi, the skipper, meanwhile, has been producing good yield with the ball as well. From the 3 matches, he was able to scalp 6 wickets with a 4-wicket haul against Kings, though in a losing cause.

With the team in solid form, the defending champions are all set to eye the playoffs of PSL 2026. Currently at No. 4, Lahore Qalandars are boasting strong form with players like Parvez Hossain Emon and Mohammad Naeem scoring well for the team with the bat.

Bowling Unit Going Strong Despite Ball Tampering Controversy

The bowling unit too looks equally good with Shaheen Afridi leading the pace attack, followed by Mustafizur Rahman and Haris Rauf. The spin department, though, is led by Sikandar Raza, who scalped 3 wickets from 3 matches and garnered 56 runs with the bat with his lower-order hitting.

As Lahore Qalandars guide their way through amidst the Fakhar Zaman ban for the ball tampering scandal, the team will be looking forward to a steady display of performance from the team that has won the PSL three times.
