Vaibhav Suryavanshi during IPL 2025 (Source: AFP)
There is only one gear for Vaibhav Suryavanshi, and that is tearing into the opposition bowlers from left, right and centre. The 14-year-old made headlines during IPL 2025, tallying 252 runs in seven matches at an explosive strike rate of 206.56 while playing for Rajasthan Royals, and it seems like the script is not going to be changed.
Playing for DY Patil Blue in the DY Patil Cup 2026, Suryavanshi made a half-century in just 14 balls. The 14-year-old, who skipped the class 10 exam lately, raced to 43 off just 12 deliveries, of which 16 runs came off the first four balls before getting the landmark score.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi Broke Multiple IPL Records Last Time
Wearing the pink jersey, Vaibhav Suryavanshi was in the news throughout the second half of the IPL since getting the breakthrough in the cash-rich league. This included a 35-ball century against the Gujarat Titans, which was the quickest among Indians in the history of the tournament.
However, Suryavanshi will have a new leader this time around, as Sanju Samson, their good old captain, has joined Chennai Super Kings (CSK) ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. In Samson’s absence, Riyan Parag will captain the side, with Suryavanshi, in all likelihood, to open once again alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal.

In all, Suryavanshi smashed 18 fours and 24 massive sixes in 122 balls he had faced in IPL, and wreaked havoc while playing for India’s U19 setup at such a young age.
It is important to note that the IPL 2026 schedule has not yet been officially announced. The multiple reports suggest that IPL 2026 will begin on March 26 and will end on May 31, although nothing is yet to be confirmed.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi Does Wonders In India's Youth ODIs
His Youth ODIs record is equally impressive, with 1412 runs at an average of 56.48, including the iconic 175, which speaks volumes about his credentials.
The iconic 175 from Suryavanshi came in the U19 World Cup final, against England. There, he took only 80 balls to get there, which had 15 sixes and as many fours to entertain the crowd.
Riding on Suryavanshi’s 175, India made 411/9 after coming to bat against England. Then England were bundled out for 311 in 40.2 overs, with Suryavanshi winning the player of the match as well as player of the series awards.
Suryavanshi’s rise in cricket is nothing but sensational. If he keeps on doing wonderful things with the bat, he could break the great Sachin Tendulkar’s overall record, which was assumed not to be broken at any cost in the times to come. However, Sachin Tendulkar had unreal consistency throughout his illustrious career, and only time will tell how much Suryavanshi can replicate the same.
