Ben Stokes (England Captain): [on the game] "Good result. Coming in after a long time, a lot of things happening away from the field. Test cricket is tough. You never know what you are getting in terms of conditions. We identified the conditions very quickly and it worked our way.
[on 2-day Tests and approach] Conversations this week were very quick to happen. Sometimes when you get a lot of people in the dressing room, there are lot of ideas. We were very clear as a team. The wicket presented challenges as a batting unit. We knew what we had to do, we had clear plans against the New Zealand batters this week and we executed really well. Tough conditions with the bat but we were very good this week.
[on Emilio Gay] That's on the top end of Test cricket. 50 runs he got on top was monumental for us to get the lead. That's a tough introduction to Test cricket. But that's a massive contribution from Emilio.
[on Robinson] The skill that Ollie possesses is never questioned. He is relentless with his lines and lengths. It's been an emotional week for him. The attitude he has is incredibly competitive. He's a phenomenal bowler, he led the bowling attack really well with Gus. As a bowling unit we were great. I just sort of chipped in at the backend every now and then.
[on the concerns] We just want to play our best game of Test cricket. That's what we want to concentrate on."
Tom Latham (New Zealand Captain): [on NZ's record at Lord's] "The way we set the tone with the new ball on day 1 was outstanding. We have extremely talented bowlers on show. We weren't able to capitalize on it.
[on what went wrong] We weren't able to get through that tricky phase on day 1. We weren't able to form partnerships with a batting point of view. Surface wasn't easy. The bowlers managed to hit the areas for long periods of time and didn't give us much to work with. We will take confidence from the work we have done in the last couple of weeks into the Oval.
Sometimes against England you have small moments. Guys are always working on it, desperate to do well. Hopefully we can work it out and put out a good show at the Oval.
[on the conditions] It's the up and down nature of the surface. The ball is also moving sideways, you have to adjust. We have a long history of trusting the surface. Lots of dismissals were bowleds and LBWs. It was more about batters getting caught in the crease.
[on the 2nd innings] You always look at ways you would have done things better. GP was very positive today. Things maybe could have different. Not ideal from our point of view. We trust ourselves and looking ahead to next week.
[on the series] The preparation we had in the last couple of weeks is exactly what we want. As a bowling point of view to see Kyle Jamieson, William O'Rourke back after injuries. Nathan Smith is fantastic and we have the experience of Matt Henry."
Ollie Robinson (Player of the Match): [on his performance on comeback] "There was a time where I never thought I'd be back on a pitch with England so to get that win for the team is such a special feeling. Walking off there with the lads, a win under our belts in the first game of the summer, it's amazing.
[on feelings before comeback] It's probably the worst nerves I've had before a game, to be honest. My anxiety was through the roof the day before, I couldn't feel my legs! But it calmed down a bit after the first wicket and the crowd was just unbelievable, one of the loudest crowds I've played in front of.
[on the triple wicket maiden] The feeling was so surreal [after my first over]. I didn't really have any words to describe it but to look back, it's one of the highlights of my career so far, for sure.
[on conditions] I feel we just bowled really well. It got up and down a bit. Lots of seam movement sideways. Our plans were pretty clear and we stuck to them and we were on the right side of the result. Emilio Gay played a magnificent innings.
Everyone bowled well. Gus picked up 5 wickets, he loves bowling here. It's a really enjoyable week, being part of the England pace attack.
[on comeback] I know this is just the start. Lot of hard work to go. I hope it's a long career."
