It is still raining and the umpires after having a word with the head of the groundsmen have decided, the conditions won't be suitable in time for us to have any more cricket this evening, hence stumps are called early.
A positive day for England as they dent New Zealand further in the 4th innings removing Rachin Ravindra (8 off 21) and Daryl Mitchell for a 3-ball duck. Ollie Robinson picked up both the wickets after he changed ends. Gus Atkinson had picked up a couple of wickets on day 2 - Tom Latham (0) and William O'Rourke (0), Josh Tongue had got rid of the experienced Kane Williamson for 18.
Devon Conway opening the innings is still unbeaten, facing 55 deliveries for 19 runs, 2 boundaries in his knock so far. Tom Blundell who hit a career-best ton against Ireland last week is unbeaten with Conway with 2 to his name.
Earlier in the Test match, England were invited to bat first and scored 140. Kyle Jamieson picked up 5/62 and Harry Brook top scored with 56. It was Jamieson who top scored for New Zealand with the bat with an aggressive, unbeaten 38 in 29 balls with 2 fours and 3 sixes as the Kiwis were bundled out for 113.
It was Nathan Smith's chance to shine with the ball in the 3rd innings as he picked up 6/70 to skittle England for 226. Emilio Gay on debut scoring 57 in 95 balls and added 52 runs for the first wicket with Ben Duckett. New Zealand were set a total of 254 to win the Test and need 199 more runs to win at the close of day 3 with the score 55/4!

9:34 PM IST, 5:04 PM Local Time: The umpires are out in the middle, having a word with the head of the groundsmen. It is still raining, though the pace of it has gradually slowed down. The umbrellas are all up. An inspection will take place at 5:15 PM Local Time / 9:45 PM IST!

8:35 PM IST, 4:05 PM Local Time: The rain has returned just as the tea interval comes to an end. It has got heavier and has pushed the groundstaff back to safety.
8:28 PM IST, 3:58 PM Local Time: The rain has stopped and the groundstaff are out in the middle working hard to get the ground ready. An update is awaited soon.

England getting ahead in the game reducing New Zealand to 55/5 in 21.3 overs with Devon Conway fighting with a 55-ball 19 and Tom Blundell at the other end. Ollie Robinson picked up both the wickets to fall today sending Rachin Ravindra (8 off 21) and Daryl Mitchell (0 off 3) in the crease.
Gus Atkinson's figures read 6-1-16-2 and Josh Tongue has also been impressive with 6-2-15-1 to his name. It is still raining at Lord's and we can only expect for the conditions to clear up so that we get some action underway in the evening session. Stay tuned...
