Yesterday it was MI against PBKS, and tonight LSG against CSK — the lower-ranked teams are turning into real party poopers for the sides higher up the table. This was a complete team performance from LSG, delivering in all departments. Akash Singh stood out with the ball, while Mitchell Marsh was absolutely brutal with the bat.
Despite the win, LSG remain rooted to the bottom of the points table. For CSK, it’s now do-or-die — they must win their remaining two games and hope other results go their way. Up next, we head to the iconic Eden Gardens tomorrow where KKR take on GT — a massive clash for both sides.
For now, this is Pritam Dey signing off on behalf of my colleagues Akshay Bhide, Ajay Pal Singh, AkshayaKrishna Polya, Manish Bishnoi, Paras Yadav and Aman, who brought you all the updates from this game. Stay tuned for more cricketing action from around the world. BYE BYE👋
Mitchell Marsh (Player of the Match): "(On batting so well on a tough pitch) Yeah, look, it was nice to get a win. It has been a tough season for us this year. As a group, we have stuck together and it was really nice to get an award tonight.
(On his form this season) We have great people in this group, some great young kids and we know that we haven't got things right on the field at times but it's still a good group to be part of. Just really nice to get a win tonight.
(On batting with Inglis at the other end) I love it. It certainly feels like he takes the pressure off me. We have kind of grown up together playing for Western Australia for the last 8 years, we know each other really well. It was a good partnership tonight between us.
(What did they change towards the backend of that powerplay in the 2nd innings) It's experience pretty much. Over here, it's red soil wickets. We sort of know that the first 2-3 overs can be hard work. If you look back in the start of the tournament, we were 2 to 3 wickets down in that period. Today, I thought about going hard in the backend of the powerplay. It is a good wicket once you get going. It sort of remind me of the Perth Stadium (chuckles).
(On his run out) Ah, cricket is a funny game. Isn't it?
(Is he fielding a lot more than last year?) I am, yeah. I had a bit of bad luck when it comes to the impact sub unfortunately. Josh Inglis hurt his finger few games back. So, he rightfully took over the mantle. I enjoy being out there with the boys. It's always good fun."

Rishabh Pant (Lucknow Super Giants Captain): "[How do these wins feel towards the end of the season?] It feels good. You know, getting a win definitely feels good. The things you talk about, there's a lot to play for regardless of where our season ends. We take a lot of pride for playing like this.
[On Akash Singh] He has been working hard throughout the IPL. Sometimes it is hard to give everyone a game. When people are preparing, he is one of the guys who sticks to his plans more often than going anywhere else. It definitely paid off. The way he bowled, stick to the plan for longer period of time.
[On batting in the powerplay] See, definitely that was the first thought. To get two overseas batters to open and Nicky P at three. That was the idea. Sometimes, it is difficult when the thought process is not being implemented all the time. But at the same time, we take pride and we are confident as a team. It is frustrating when you know what you have as a team just because of little thought process here and there, you can't implement things the way want. Things can happen.
[Are LSG close to crack the formula for success?] See, definitely we are working out. It has been working for us. Four fast bowlers in home conditions. It works for us. The team we have, is so amazing. The only thing is how we can control overthinking.
[On why he didn't come out to bat tonight] I was ready to bat in but the idea came in like why not try players who have not got much chances. I was thinking again and again, should I go or not. Sometimes you need to respect the things from the think tank."
