The poster of Sourav Ganguly’s biopic, featuring actor Rajkummar Rao, was unveiled on July 8, on the cricketer’s 54th birthday. The film ‘Dada – The Sourav Ganguly Story ’ is based on the life of the former Indian cricket captain.
Shortly after the poster was revealed, Ganguly shared it on social media, describing it as the “best gift ever” and writing, “Can’t wait to see you play my cover drive! @rajkummar_rao.”
The poster recreates a notable moment from Ganguly’s career, showing a shirtless Rajkummar Rao waving his jersey from the Lord’s balcony following India’s famous NatWest Trophy victory over England in 2002.
That being said, as the film prepares to take the audience down memory lane, take a look at the list of other Indian cricketers whose journeys have been recreated in cinema.
Indian Cricketers On Whom Biopics Have Been Made

Based on the school days, early struggles, the perseverance through setbacks, a pivotal railway station moment, and the ultimate triumph of leading India to victory in the 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup, the movie very beautifully chronicles MS Dhoni's extraordinary life journey.
The biopic was directed by Neeraj Pandey, and it stars the late Sushant Singh Rajput in the lead role.
Upon its release, the film became a massive commercial and critical success, emerging as one of the highest-grossing Indian films of 2016. The late actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s performance was widely praised for his dedicated preparation and ability to mimic Dhoni's mannerisms
