Sachin Tendulkar is regarded as a demigod in India for his exceptional contributions to the sport. Regarded as the best batter to have ever played cricket, he is responsible for bringing India to the sporting map.
The God of Cricket, as they call him, has massive respect not just in the cricketing fraternity but also in the whole sporting ecosystem across the globe.
Although he retired from professional sport back in 2013, after 13 years, he still holds the records for most international cricket runs, most centuries, and most runs in Test and ODI formats.
Sachin Tendulkar: Awards, Honours and Accolades
Widely respected in India, Sachin Tendulkar is the only Indian sporting icon to have been honoured with the Padma Shri. He was given India’s highest civilian honour in 2014, just a year after his retirement.
He bagged the Padma Vibhushan in 2008, the Padma Shri in 1999, the Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award (formerly called Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna) in 1997-1998 and the Arjuna Award in 1994.

Moreover, the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) constructed a Sachin Tendulkar statue at the Wankhede Stadium to tribute the legendary batter. He also has a stand to his name at the Sharjah Cricket Ground, where he famously brought the iconic Desert Storm against Australia in 1998.
Talking about Australia, Tendulkar was honoured by the Australian government with the Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in 2012, a very rare honour for a non-Australian citizen.
Gwalior plans first-of-its-kind cricket corridor for Sachin Tendulkar
To give a special tribute to the legendary Sachin Tendulkar, Gwalior city has decided to develop a first-of-its-kind Cricket Corridor. The city is planning transform Sachin Tendulkar Marg into a cricket-themed boulevard, as reported by Newsd.in.
The redevelopment will take done under the direction of Gwalior Collector Ruchika Chauhan. According to the reports, the Sachin Tendulkar Marg will be have cricket bat-themed artistic installations along the road divider, while there will be autograph of the legendary batter engraved on selected installations.
Sachin Tendulkar's special bond with Gwalior
Sachin Tendulkar has a special bond with the city of Gwalior. Known for holding various 'firsts in cricket', the Master Blaster became the first men's cricketer to rack up a double hundred in the 50-over format in Gwalior.
Back in 2010, Tendulkar made history at the Captain Roop Singh Stadium against South Africa, as his flawless innings helped him break the previous best ODI score of 194 runs jointly held by Zimbabwe's Charles Coventry and Pakistan's Saeed Anwar.
He slammed a fiery 200* off 147 balls, where he smoked 25 boundaries and three sixes. Overall, he had played nine ODI matches at the venue, scoring 529 runs in those games.
The Master Blaster drew the blueprint for the batters to follow, as after him, various batters, i.e. Virender Sehwag, Rohit Sharma, Martin Guptill, Chris Gayle, Glenn Maxwell, Ishan Kishan, and Shubman Gill, scored double centuries in ODIs.
