The Hundred 2026 Auction was the talk of the town for the last week, with the auction headlining for big buys and some controversial unsolds.
The 21-year-old, James Coles, became the highest-paid player in the first-ever auction in the Hundred, as the franchises broke the bank for the Sussex all-rounder with the Southern Brave eventually bagging him for £390,000 (approximately INR 4.80 crore).
Whereas some renowned names like Joe Root, Adil Rashid and Aiden Markram, who have also played in the Indian Premier League, were bought in the Hundred 2026 auction, which featured four IPL team owners this time around.
Meanwhile, some cricketers who will be playing in the upcoming IPL 2026 went unsold in the Hundred 2026 auction.
Top 5 IPL cricketers who failed to find buyers in The Hundred 2026 auction:
Lungi Ngidi - Delhi Capitals
The South African fast bowler, Lungi Ngidi, was in his supreme best during the recently concluded T20 World Cup 2026, where his team reached the semi-finals. In the seven games he played, Ngidi snapped 12 wickets, including superb performances against India and the West Indies.
During the tournament, he outfoxed countless batters with his off-cutters and leg-cutters. After that, he was looked at as a front-runner in the Delhi Capitals' Playing XI in the IPL 2026. However, his unsold status at the Hundred 2026 auction raised a few eyebrows, given that DC's co-owner has a stake in Southern Brave.

Akeal Hosein - Chennai Super Kings
Despite being a finger spinner, Akeal Hosein is one of the most lethal tweakers going around in T20Is. The left-arm spinner from Trinidad and Tobago made headlines when Chennai Super Kings bought him for INR 2 crore during the IPL 2026 auction.
Known for his canny bowling in all phases of the game, Akeal has been a great performer in leagues across the globe. However, the West Indies cricketer failed to find any buyers in the Hundred 2026 auction, even after playing two seasons in the league.
Azmatullah Omarzai- Punjab Kings
The stocks for Azmatullah Omarzai have risen exponentially in world cricket, especially after his purple patch in 2024. In recent times, he has been a prolific seam-bowling all-rounder for Afghanistan.
The all-rounder has become a high-end T20 agent, playing in leagues such as the IPL, SA20, ILT20, and BPL.
In recent years, he has become a core part of the Punjab Kings set-up, but he failed to find a franchise in the Hundred 2026. Meanwhile, his skill sets have been useful in the English conditions.
Anrich Nortje- Lucknow Super Giants
Once regarded as one of the quickest men going around, Anrich Nortje has not been the same since his stints of injuries.
He has been on and off the field in the last couple of years. Meanwhile, he was expected to make a grand comeback soon after Lucknow Super Giants picked the Proteas for INR 2 crore at the IPL 2026 mini-auction.
However, when Nortje's name came up during the Hundred 2026 auction, the right-arm seamer failed to find a team.
Xavier Bartlett- Punjab Kings
Xavier Bartlett is touted as the next big thing in the Australian cricket. He is quick, he is accurate, and he knows how to get wickets to any track.
He headlined back in 2024 when Punjab Kings went on to bag him for the upcoming season. Later, the franchise retained the big Aussie seamer. However, despite his regular stints in the IPL and MLC, he failed to find any buyers during the Hundred 2026 auction.
