Amidst the England tour, the BCCI announced the India squad for the upcoming T20I series against Zimbabwe. The Ajit Agarkar-led selection panel picked a strong squad for the riveting series, as India once again aims to beat the Chevrons in their backyard.

To pick an India T20I squad, IPL is the benchmark. A player who performs in the toughest T20 league in the world gets the preference. Even for the Zimbabwe tour, IPL was considered one of the main criteria.

In this article, we take a look at the IPL team-wise representation in India's squad for the Zimbabwe T20Is.

IPL team-wise players in India's T20I squad vs Zimbabwe

PBKS- 4 players

Shreyas Iyer

The captain of the side, Shreyas Iyer, will lead Team India in his third series, and the pressure will be on the skipper to deliver the goods. He couldn’t do much in the Ireland T20Is, but so far against England, Iyer has delivered with the bat.

Suryansh Shedge

A promising young all-rounder, Shedge performed exceedingly well in the India A tri-series vs Afghanistan and Sri Lanka, and he was immediately drafted into the India squad vs Ireland.

He was brilliant for the Punjab Kings in the IPL 2026 as he smacked 158 runs in just seven matches, with a strike rate of 175.56. Team India would hope he can replicate his IPL form for them against Zimbabwe.

Prabhsimran Singh

Another player from the Punjab Kings, Prabhsimran Singh had a brilliant IPL 2026 campaign, and as a result, he was rewarded with a place in the T20I squad.

In IPL 2026, the PBKS opener smacked 510 runs, and a season prior to that, he registered 549 runs as Team India came calling for him.

Yash Thakur

Yash Thakur warmed the PBKS bench for the majority of IPL 2026, but he has been excellent in the T20 format as India needs his wicket-taking ability against the Zimbabwean batters. He has not been used by PBKS wisely, but there is a good chance that the Indian management will use his skillset against the hosts.

SRH- 3 players

Abhishek Sharma

Perhaps the best T20I batter in the world at the moment, Abhishek Sharma has been in outstanding form, having scored runs in the Ireland and England matches.

Even in the IPL 2026, the SRH opener smashed 563 runs in just 15 matches, and he’ll be eager to score more runs in the upcoming Zimbabwe matches.

Ishan Kishan

The runs have dried up, and he has failed to deliver the goods against Ireland and England. He’ll be hopeful of regaining the Midas touch in the India vs Zimbabwe T20I matches. In the IPL 2026, he scored 602 runs in 15 matches, with a strike rate of 182.42.

Harsh Dubey

A wily left-arm bowling all-rounder, Dubey has been associated with SRH, and was given ample chances in 2026 to prove his worth. He played in eight games for SRH this season, and the spinner bagged 8 wickets as well. However, the economy was on the higher side (10.38).

KKR- 2 players

Varun Chakaravarthy

Varun Chakaravarthy started the IPL 2026 on a sluggish note as he struggled to take wickets, but match after match, he improved, and he became KKR’s vital cog in the second half of the campaign.

In IPL 2026, he played 11 matches, and scalped 11 wickets, with an economy rate of 8.78. However, despite his efforts, KKR failed to qualify for the playoffs.

Rinku Singh

For some reason, Rinku Singh was snubbed from the India squad for the UK tour, but he was eventually drafted back into the side for the matches against Zimbabwe. In the IPL 2026, the left-handed batter smacked 296 runs, with a strike rate of 148.99.

Lucknow Super Giants- 2 Players

Mayank Yadav

For some reason, the BCCI selectors went ahead and picked Mayank Yadav in the T20I squad vs Zimbabwe. The pacer has been injury-prone, and even in the IPL, he failed to deliver the goods.

However, the pacer still possesses raw pace, and that skill set could turn out to be crucial to bamboozle the Zimbabwean batters.

Prince Yadav

16 wickets in 14 matches and the BCCI selectors immediately noticed the talent possessed by Prince Yadav. He gave away runs at 8.83 runs per over, but his raw pace and the ability to move the ball both ways impressed everyone as the right-arm pacer was drafted into the T20I squad vs Zimbabwe.

CSK- 1 Player

Shivam Dube

Dube didn’t have the best of IPL 2026, but he more than made up for it with some key knocks during the UK tour. In 2026, he has blown hot and cold, and that was his story in the IPL 2026.

In 13 matches, he scored just 270 runs, with a strike rate of 158.82. The strike rate was one of the main reasons why the all-rounder was picked in the squad.

Rajasthan Royals- 1 Player

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi

The star of the IPL 2026 and the leading run-getter with 776 runs, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi swept away numerous IPL awards and was picked in the India squad for the UK tour.

He made his India debut in the second T20I against England, and the batter has been in red-hot form as India would hope he can continue to deliver the goods against the Chevrons.

Mumbai Indians- 1 Player

Tilak Varma

The lone player selected from the Mumbai Indians squad is Tilak Varma. Just like most of his teammates, he didn’t have the best of IPL, but he did manage to score some crucial runs in tricky situations.

In 14 IPL 2026 games, Tilak registered 359 runs, with a strike rate of 145.93. Interestingly, he also slammed a hundred in the tournament.

Gujarat Titans- 1 Player

Ashok Sharma

Ashok Sharma quickly rose to prominence after he constantly clocked deliveries in excess of 150 km/h. He was fast and furious, and made the batters dance to his tunes. Playing for the Gujarat Titans, Ashok Sharma bagged 6 wickets in 6 games, with an economy of 10.86.
