While representing Gujarat Titans, Ashok Sharma, a rampant fast bowler from Rajasthan, made a record against his state-owned IPL franchise during the 2026 edition on Saturday at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.

The 23-year-old, whom Gujarat Titans bought for INR 90 lakh, had received interest from Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the last IPL auction.

And during his IPL 2026 match against RR, Ashok showed what he is capable of.

Ashok has a tendency to bowl around 150 kmph. But he took it to the next level during the 16th over of the Rajasthan Royalsโ€™ innings.

There, on the last ball of the delivery, the speedometer showed it clocked 154.2 Kmph, the fastest delivery of IPL 2026.

The second on the list was South Africa's pace sensation Anrich Nortje, who bowled at 150.9 kph while playing for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).

The ball, which was the fastest ball of IPL 2026, was right in the yorker zone. Jurel, who was at his absolute best against GT, took no run against it.

Notably, Ashok played in Gujarat Titansโ€™ first match as well. He returned figures of 1/31 off his three overs. Against Rajasthan Royals, he bowled all four overs, and conceded 37 runs with a wicket, of Shimron Hetmyer.

Rajasthan Royals Close On 210/6 Vs Gujarat Titans

Riding on Dhruv Jurelโ€™s 42-ball 75, which had five sixes and as many fours, Rajasthan Royals ended on 210/6. Yashasvi Jaiswal and the swashbuckling Vaibhav Sooryavanshi gave them a perfect start once again, while Shimron Hetmyer played a breezy cameo.

The rest, however, failed to live up to their lofty expectations. Captain Riyan Parag got the start, smashing a delightful six off his first delivery, but lost his wicket to Prasidh Krishna three balls later.

For Gujarat Titans, all of their bowlers got at least a wicket. Nevertheless, given the fact that captain Shubman Gill is not playing, it would be a tough task for the IPL 2022 champions to get the job done in their own backyard.

If Gujarat want to get the job done at home, the onus will be on Sai Sudharsan and Jos Buttler to deliver. Focus will also be on Kumar Kushagra, who is supposed to open in the absence of Shubman Gill.

At the point of writing this, Gujarat are 11/0 after 0.2 overs, with Sudharsan getting them off to a flying start.
