It won’t be an understatement to say that Pakistan cricket is in turmoil, and both the men’s and women’s teams have failed to deliver the goods in recent ICC events. The Asian side has been provided with the best of facilities, but the players have been average in marquee events.

While most of the players have not lived up to the hype, there is Fatima Sana, who by a country mile has been Pakistan’s best player (in both the men’s and women’s divisions combined). She has been their most consistent performer, and was stellar in the recently concluded Women’s T20 World Cup.

However, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is set to face a major jolt as their star player, Fatima Sana will miss an upcoming series as she has prior commitments.

Fatima Sana set to play The Hundred, will miss Sri Lanka T20Is

In the latest development, it has been reported by Geo News that Sana will take part in the Pakistan vs Sri Lanka ODI series, but once the matches conclude, she will fly to England to take part in the Women’s Hundred 2026.

The all-rounder will not take part in the T20I series against Sri Lanka, which takes place right after the ODIs, as Fatima Sana will join her Birmingham Phoenix teammates in England.

The news comes as a massive blow for Pakistan, who underperformed in the T20 World Cup, and they needed their star player against a strong Sri Lankan T20I side.

Fatima Sana, the first Pakistan Women's player to feature in The Hundred

Interestingly, the 24-year-old is the first Pakistan female cricketer to bag a contract with The Hundred tournament. Phoenix signed her in the wildcard draft during the ICC Women's T20 World Cup.

The Pakistan cricketer became Birmingham Phoenix’s fourth overseas player after Lucy Hamilton withdrew from the league to manage her workload.

The all-rounder will earn around £15,000 (approximately PKR 5.6 million) for participating in one of the best franchise tournaments in the world.

The Hundred will be held from 21 July to 16 August, and Sana will hope to make a mark in the marquee tournament.

Fatima Sana's excellent run of form in recent series

The Pakistan player has been in outstanding form as of late, and she was the lone warrior for Pakistan in an otherwise underwhelming Women’s T20 World Cup.

Pakistan Women crashed out in the group stage as Sana got to play only five games. In those matches, she made a name for herself by picking 11 wickets, with an economy of 6.95 runs per over.

Moreover, she also contributed with the bat, scoring 85 runs, including a stellar 55 off 38 against South Africa Women in a must-win contest.

Pakistan Women tour of Sri Lanka schedule

The tour commences with the ODIs first, as the three matches will take place on July 23, 25, and 28. The 50-over matches will be a part of the ICC Women's Championship.

Once the ODIs are over, Sana will fly to England, and the Women in Green will have to tackle the Sri Lankan side without her as the T20I matches will happen on July 31, August 2, and August 4.
