If the KL Rahul and Nitish Rana destruction was not enough for the DC vs PBKS clash on April 25, Prabhsimran Singh slammed an over of consecutive boundaries off Mukesh Kumar in the last over of Punjab Kings' powerplay.

Chasing a massive target of 265 runs set by DC, Punjab Kings looked to start the onslaught from the very beginning with Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh opening for the team.

With the duo starting to hammer from the very first ball and racking up 116 runs inside the powerplay, the second-highest powerplay scores ever to be recorded in the tournament, Prabhsimran Singh set an unprecedented record himself against Mukesh Kumar.

As Mukesh Kumar bowled him the final over of the powerplay, Prabhsimran Singh slammed him for four consecutive boundaries, making Kumar concede 24 runs in the last over of the powerplay, as Prabhsimran ended at 71 off just 23 balls in Mukesh Kumar's over.

How Prabhsimran Punished Mukesh In The last Over of The Powerplay

The very first delivery from Mukesh Kumar was slammed through the covers by Prabhsimran as he just completed his half-century from 18 deliveries. The next ball, which was pitched at a short length around the off-side of the wicket, saw Prabhsimran Singh pull it away through mid-wicket for another boundary.

The next delivery was a full-length ball from Kumar, which had Prabhsimran dance down the track to slam it over the top of the covers for a boundary. The fourth ball met with the same fate as a full and wide outside-off delivery was banged over the top of short third man for a boundary.

The penultimate ball was a high full toss and was cleared for the ropes for a boundary, as the final ball of the over was also sealed with Prabhsimran's pull shot that got the top edge and cleared the ropes despite a valiant effort from Kumar with his variations.

Prabhsimran’s relentless attacking approach ensured that nearly every over yielded big runs, with boundaries flowing consistently.

As Prabhsimran smashed Kumar six consecutive fours in an over, he joined an elite list featuring Ajinkya Rahane and Prithvi Shaw.

  • Prithvi Shaw (DC) vs Shivam Mavi (KKR), Ahmedabad, 2021

Punjab Kings’ blazing start in DC vs PBKS turned into a record-breaking spectacle too, largely driven by Prabhsimran Singh’s bashing. Alongside Priyansh Arya, the duo stitched a stunning 126-run opening stand in Delhi, now the highest opening partnership between PBKS and DC in IPL history.

Highest Opening Partnerships for PBKS vs DC in IPL

  • 126 – Priyansh Arya & Prabhsimran Singh, Delhi, Today*
  • 122 – Mayank Agarwal & KL Rahul, Mumbai (Wankhede), 2021
  • 68* – Hashim Amla & Martin Guptill, Mohali, 2017

From the very first over, Prabhsimran dictated terms, and ultimately rewriting the record books with a partnership that surpassed the likes of Mayank Agarwal and KL Rahul’s 122-run stand in 2021.

The carnage did not stop there, as PBKS also registered one of the highest powerplay totals in IPL history, racing to 116/0 inside six overs. This knock in DC vs PBKS IPL 2026 clash, now stands as the second-highest powerplay score ever in the league and the second-best recorded in Delhi, just behind Sunrisers Hyderabad’s 125/0 in 2024.
