Spin-Focused KKR Seeking Revival Against SRH’s Batting Juggernauts

The first Thursday of April will witness an exhilarating clash as KKR and SRH face off in Match 6 of IPL 2026 on April 2nd at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

Both teams come into this match on the back of disappointing losses in their season openers and will be looking to bounce back and open their account for the season.

SRH – Looking to Strike Back with Batting Power

Sunrisers Hyderabad will look to bounce back after their first game's defeat against RCB, with explosive top-order batsmen like Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, and Ishan Kishan leading the charge alongside Heinrich Klaasen, who will be key in the middle. However, their bowling remains a concern, and they will aim to address it early in the season.

Heinrich Klaasen enjoys playing with KKR, against whom he has an impressive 301 runs at a staggering 60.2 average and 196.73 strike-rate. With a century in the last faceoff, Klaasen’s explosive numbers against KKR’s spin duo, Varun Chakravarthy and Sunil Narine, will be crucial for SRH to get their first win in IPL 2026.

Finn Allen

Finn Allen has been in sensational form, right from his impressive BBL stint with Perth Scorchers to a stellar T20 World Cup 2026, where he scored 298 runs at a 200 strike rate, including a century at Eden Gardens in the semi-final against South Africa. 

As he arrives for KKR's first home game at the Eden Gardens, it will be interesting to see if he can notch his first big IPL knock against a struggling SRH bowling attack.

Tejasvi Dahiya, the keeper-batter from Delhi, could be in line for his IPL debut for KKR. Known for his aggressive stroke play, Dahiya could be a valuable addition to KKR's middle-order, where KKR has been looking for firepower. 

Shivang Kumar – Strengthening SRH’s Spin Attack

On the SRH side, Shivang Kumar, a left-arm wrist spinner from the MP T20 League, could make his debut. Given KKR’s struggles against spin bowling, Kumar could be brought in to bolster SRH’s spin attack alongside Harsh Dubey.

KKR will look to start aggressively with their top order, hoping Rahane and Finn Allen can take on SRH’s attack. Varun Chakravarthy and Sunil Narine will play a key role in containing SRH’s middle-order. With their pace attack limited due to injuries, KKR will rely on their spinners

SRH will target KKR’s struggling spinners with their top-order, followed by Heinrich Klaasen in the middle. The focus will be on avoiding the collapses that plagued them last year. After coming close to a 300-run total against KKR in 2025, SRH will aim for another high-scoring contest, given both teams' bowling vulnerabilities.
