Rating India players for T20 World Cup 2026 win [Source: @BCCI/x]
Lifting a global trophy at an ICC event is rarely the product of one or two standout performances. It is the culmination of countless contributions that collectively script a campaign worthy of silverware at the winner’s podium.
India’s triumphant run at the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup followed that very template, with match-winning contributions arriving from different corners of the squad at nearly every juncture. From a breakneck batting approach to incisive spells with the ball, several Indian cricketers came to the fore, playing defining roles as the ‘Men in Blue’ marched their way to a successful title defense.
Following Team India’s euphoric T20 World Cup 2026 win at home on March 8, here we rate every Indian player based on their performance.
Rating India players out of 10 for 2026 T20 World Cup performance
Suryakumar Yadav – 4/10
Despite leading India to global glory, Suryakumar Yadav endured a relatively quiet T20 World Cup 2026 with the bat, accumulating 242 runs in nine innings at an underwhelming average of 30.25. However, it was a Suryakumar special that pulled India out of a certain jail against USA back on February 7, i.e., a month before the final.

Stuttering at 77-6, the senior man plundered 84* off 49 balls in Mumbai as the ‘Men in Blue’ started off with a 29-run win. The cricketer, however, failed to inspire India’s batting charge in the Super 8s, the semifinal as well as in the final.
Abhishek Sharma – 3/10
Abhishek Sharma started off the 2026 T20 World Cup with ‘illness’ and three straight ducks in the Group stage. Even in the Super 8 and the semifinal, the blistering opener aggregated just 89 runs in four innings, which included 55 in a single game against Zimbabwe.
However, the number one ranked T20I batter truly stood up to the occasion on the big day against New Zealand, whacking a 21-ball 52 with the bat and delivering the knockout punch with the ball. For his final heroics alone, Abhishek Sharma earns a three out of 10.
Ishan Kishan – 8.5/10
Ishan Kishan may have come up clutch in certain games and failed to go big in others, but the attacking top-order batter consistently brought a sense of intent and urgency to India’s approach at the top. In the final against New Zealand, the left-hander slapped an electrifying 25-ball 54, mere days after punching out a brisk 39 in the semifinal.
Even in India’s high-profile Group A match against Pakistan, Kishan blasted 77 off just 39 balls to headline his team’s emphatic 61-run win. With 317 runs in just nine innings of the competition at a strike rate of 193.29, the 27-year-old achieves a solid 8.5.
Sanju Samson – 10/10
They say it is nigh impossible to deliver a flawless 10/10 campaign in any multi-nation ICC event. Yet Sanju Samson did exactly that, making the most of the limited opportunities that came his way and leaving a telling imprint whenever called upon.
After warming the bench for a major part of the Group Stage and the Super 8s, the perennial underachiever responded with a calculated 50-ball 97* in a virtual quarterfinal against West Indies. The cricketer also plundered identical 89s against England and New Zealand in the semifinal and final to mount 321 runs in just five innings of the tournament at an average of above 80 and a strike rate nearly 200.
Shivam Dube – 9/10
Barring that one ‘Player of the Match’ award against the Netherlands, Shivam Dube was not exactly a regular in the tournament’s headline acts. However, the sturdy all-rounder was invariably there whenever the team needed him, chipping in with either brisk cameos or with timely wickets.
His finishing fury in the semifinal and final pushed India past 250 in both games, and the cricketer maintained an aggressive strike rate of 169.06 in the competition. For his silent heroics, Shivam Dube fetches a deserving nine out of 10.
Hardik Pandya – 8/10
When Hardik Pandya was not busy ‘aura farming’, he was influencing games with telling contributions with both bat and ball. With 217 runs in nine innings at a strike rate of 160.74, along with nine wickets, the senior all-rounder never truly had a dull outing throughout the tournament.
Tilak Varma – 7/10
Tilak Varma aggregated 207 runs in nine innings of the competition at an average of nearly 30 and a strike rate of 154.47, thereby upholding India’s aggressive brand of cricket throughout the competition. Barring his failure against South Africa, the 23-year-old hardly put a foot wrong and chipped in with either crucial runs or quick cameos for his team.
Axar Patel – 8/10
With the bat, Axar Patel may have scored just 16 runs in the entire 2026 T20 World Cup from four innings, but his mere presence at number eight allows the top-order batters to play with far greater freedom and with a free-flowing approach. With the ball, the ace spinner collected an impressive haul of 11 wickets from just seven innings at an average of 18.63.

The senior cricketer also snared a couple of match-defining catches, including one in the semifinal to cap a remarkable all-round campaign for himself.
Arshdeep Singh – 6/10
On high-scoring Indian surfaces this time around, Arshdeep Singh could not quite replicate his 2024 T20 World Cup heroics. However, the speedster still managed to pick up nine wickets from eight matches, including a few crucial ones against South Africa and England.
Varun Chakaravarthy – 5/10
Despite finishing the 2026 T20 World Cup as its joint highest wicket-taker, Varun Chakaravarthy endured a rather uneven campaign, especially during the business end of the tournament. In the Group Stage, the wily leg-spinner collected nine wickets in just four innings, but leaked runs at an economy of 11.84 in India’s subsequent five matches, picking up just five more wickets in the process.
Jasprit Bumrah – 10/10
Twice in a row, Jasprit Bumrah has now commanded India’s pace attack with utmost precision to win a T20 World Cup. This time bowling on far more batting-friendly surfaces, the legendary speedster picked up 14 wickets in just eight innings at a splendid average of 12.42 and with an economy of 6.21.
Bumrah was essentially India’s ‘cheat code’ in multiple high-scoring games, including the semifinal one against England. On the day of the final, the 32-year-old broke New Zealand’s back with figures of 4-15 from his four overs to become India’s most elite wicket-taker in T20 World Cup matches.
Mohammed Siraj – 2/10
Mohammed Siraj played just one match for India in the entire T20 World Cup 2026 back in February against USA in Mumbai, and the speedster delivered with match-winning figures of 3-29 in the game.
Rinku Singh – 2/10
Batting failures against USA, Namibia and South Africa ensured Rinku Singh spent the business end of the 2026 T20 World Cup on the sidelines. A livewire on the field, the hard-hitting batter still served the team as a substitute fielder on multiple occasions.
Kuldeep Yadav – 2/10
Ace India spinner Kuldeep Yadav was rolled into the playing XI only for the match against Pakistan on a spin-friendly Colombo surface. The senior pro made his lone opportunity count by delivering a tight match-winning three-over spell.
Washington Sundar – 0/10
Washington Sundar was primarily part of the Indian squad as a backup option, with the star all-rounder featuring in only a couple of matches in Ahmedabad. Had he been given a longer rope, the 26-year-old is certainly capable of making telling contributions with both bat and ball.
Sanju Samson and Jasprit Bumrah bag ‘Perfect 10’ for India
To sum up, India’s 2026 T20 World Cup-winning campaign was fueled with contributions from nearly all corners of the squad. However, attacking wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson and senior paceman Jasprit Bumrah stood head and shoulders above the rest, earning a perfect 10/10 from the experts at CREX.
Their impeccable contributions over the last month or so helped India become the first side in history to successfully defend its T20 World Cup crown.
